Hurricane Dennis crushed us last night

i feel sorry for pensacola beach, mobile alabama and maybe new orleans.

http://image.weather.com/images/maps...us_600x405.jpg

last night i thought the roof was gonna come off the house. we are on the cost in clearwater. the wind and rain was insane and it was just the outer edges of the storm that went over us. i can't imagine being in the center of that baby in an hour when it hits land.

Basic_man 07-10-2005 10:34 AM

I didn't even knew there was an hurricane comming.. Good luck !

I wouldn't exactly say you were "crushed". Your not from Fla are you??
We took 3 dead on the money strikes last year, that is crushed. What you experienced was a thunderstorm.

However, you're very cool peeps so I am very happy to see you are ok and all is well for you. Enjoy your time in the sunshine state, come back soon.

I've always wanted to ask someone who would know.

what is worse in your opinion, Fla Hurricanes or the Cali quakes???

and why? if you don't mind.

After watching the Hurricanes on the news last year, I'd never move to an area like that. I'll take earthquakes any day over that ..

I've lived in the San Diego area all my life, there have been some really big quakes, and some really bad damage from them .. personally I guess I have been lucky and have never seen any real damage myself, only on the news.

What could be better than waking up at 3am to your house shaking? It's fantastic ..

khs 07-10-2005 11:00 AM

holy shit that looks bad

Of course I care. It's that whole "love for most of my fellow man" type thing.

*hugs*

weel, i went through the loma prieta quake in san francisco too. i can tell you, i will take hurricanes over quakes anyday. for quakes there is no preparation , no warning nothing. it just goes down and fast. within 5 minutes entire cities are leveled. hurricanes have notice and news coverage and evacuation notices. i am not afraid of hurricanes really. i had the chance to go home before this one but i stayed because i am a thrill seeker and they are exciting to me.

i know im fucking crazy, but i like it.

xclusive 07-10-2005 11:07 AM

Glad you are ok man and not in it's direct path I hope not many die

Peaches 07-10-2005 11:08 AM

Pensacola hasn't even recovered from Ivan yet :(

seeric 07-10-2005 11:15 AM

yeah, pensacola is a memory in about 2 hours. they are gonna get the direct hit.

i hope that everyone listened and got out.

axelcat 07-10-2005 11:17 AM

TurboAngel 07-10-2005 11:19 AM

Hurricanes are responsible for more deaths and damage per year than any other natural disaster.

If you look at the stats earthquakes are safer. You don't get warnings but you can prepare with smart construction.
