docs fucked my arm up! Malpractice Lawsuit! (pics)
 

well I *thought* I broke my wrist, had the cast on for 3 weeks went back for my checkup/ good news and...

When I went in for my checkup they xray'd it again and noticed that it had been casted, dislocated for three weeks with multiple fractures,the ortho tech doctor just about shit when he saw the xrays, HUGE error! He asked me if it was done within days, i told him weeks and he was flipping,,, I had broken some serious bones, one with your radial artery was broke. So being set in a cast wrong for that long could have led to gangrene by blocking blood flow to the hand, which i could feel happening, also couldnt feel some fingers as the nerves are injured SO.... I had to have surgery in three spots because I broke and flip/spum/shifted all my little carpal bones, plus broke the tip of my ulna.which was the only thing the orignal doc was working off of.

So now i got steel cable holding all me carpal bones in order cuz they wouldnt stay otherwise... It's looped through them all and just the two ends stick out, in two weeks they will take this blood soaked cast off and pull the cable out with pliers.... eeeek :( cast weighs about 50 pounds cuz i bled so much, because he had to really "work" in there cuz of the scar tissue of three weeks worth of setting wrong but he didnt want to change it cuz its setting good now. fucking thing stinks man, plus my scaphoid is still probably die... which means it'll harden like a little dried up nut and not form with the other bones...

I did that in motocross. I am having problems needless to say because of the ammount of time it sar out of place. So I will be talking to a lawyer, but in Canada we dont get away with sueing the pants off of people, specially not over worked doctors. So who knows, im just pretty bummed out because this is really bad, and they made it 100% worse... I wonder what the lawyer will say....

fucking assholes ruined my summer, plus i just bought a new house... so much for getting this all together, painted etc...

I am thankful for the very skilled surgeon who is trying to fix this mess

this kinda happened to a friend, she could not do anything about it

I'm not counting on being able to do anything, Although...

I had a police officer with me when i went in to the emergency. I said, "are you sure thats all" ( about the ulna tip )

she said "yep, thats it"

I was like "oook, sorry not doubting your education" now i am though!

so he was there when I asked that plus, anytime you get an xray in the ER they have to get screened again by a radiologist. They missed it too, technically I should have got called back the next day!

major flaw in the system right there, and a little to much socializing. When I got my surgery, I had to fill out an anesthesia survey to make sure everything would be ok. I had to fill out 5 of them they lost em all, so RIGHT before my anesthesia they had to ask me again....

I think if this would of happend in the US you would have a million dollars.

yeah, It would have cost me 30,000 to get fixed but i would be able to sue for millions...

I saw the bitch right after they told I was being admitted for surgery, I wanted to confront her, but decided against it... I was pretty upset

Do you have the original xrays of your hand? Or any pics?

yeah they have the originals...

surgeon kept them, they will "dissapear" I know it...

I did not say anything to make them suspicious, but they were already covering each others backs...

I saw them both, orig/checkup/after surgery ones their in my charts before I left yesterday though...

RUN to the hospital and fill out whatever information request you can to get them. They are YOUR medical records, and you should have some rights to them (or copies). Tell the hospital your insurance company needs them to process you claim.

I'm making my GP send a request on monday. I will need the records for disability claim as i cannot goto work with a 50 pound cast on...

So, will you be able to use it properly after you heal? That would suck balls... I hope you feel better soon. I also hope they hooked you up with some good pain meds. :( Good luck with legal action. Sounds like you'd have a sound case in America, but I know CA is different. :( Good luck!

he said at best i'll still have limited use. plus the scaphoid might die... plus more scarring from surgery. So it will be usable, but not the way a normally very active 23yr old lives... :(

Poor baby... hopefully you will have some use of it. My father in law lost the use of his right hand (he was left handed) and there are sooooo many things you don't think about that you need the *other* hand for...

Damn doctors...my mother is going through a (less serious) situation due to a doctor`s negligence. And if you think you have no chance to do anything in Canada, it`s much worse here in venezuela.

Damn dude. Sorry to hear. go to a specialist first, and then make a decision. If he tells you that the other doc fucked up, make some cash.
