Osama 7 - Bush 1

The Score in the War On Terror:
Osama-team (a group of men in dresses that receive directions from a bearded grandfather in a cave): NY, Bali, Istanbul, Casablanca, Madrid, Iraq, London
Bush-team (the biggest and best trained army in the world): Afghanistan

It cannot be anymore clear who is the biggest loser here. Or how the best resources combined with complete incompetence don't achieve anything.

U.S. Experts: It's Just Not Working, George

A constant theme of the Bush administration is that America and the world are safer because of the US invasion of Iraq and its anti-terror strategy.
That argument prevailed during the US presidential election campaign last year, despite even official US evidence to the contrary, but may have been finally buried by Thursday?s bombings in London.

Iraq War: The Best Terror Training Bush Can Provide

WASHINGTON - Iraq has replaced Afghanistan as the prime training ground for foreign terrorists who could travel elsewhere across the globe and wreak havoc, according to U.S. counterterrorism officials and classified studies by the CIA and the State Department.

I don't think your being completely fair here on Bush, (Not that I am defending him)

A good friend and retired counterterrorism professional told me this many years ago, and I heard this same line tonight. Fighting terrorism is like playing hockey where the only goal scored wins the game, it doesn't matter how many pucks were deflected by the goalie.

I can only illcit a shit eating grin out of him when I ask how many 9/11 scale attacks have been prevented in the past. The fact is we'll never hear about how many attacks have been prevented as much as President Bush and previous presidents would love to tout it, but we will always be reminded of the ones that got through. :(

bush won - he got re-elected.

me thinks he owes osama a lot

Afghanistan can't be considered a win yet. The Taliban is still strong there and our military presence is the only reason they haven't taken back the large cities. They've got control over many other areas again though.

I wanted to add all that above soon after replying, President Hamid Karzai is really only the mayor of Kabul, because everything outside of the capital is much worse off than when the Taliban were officially running the show. :(

Osama is dead.

ADL Colin 07-08-2005 01:43 AM

What did Osama win?

Osama. One terrorist attack on US city under Bush.
Bush. Two Muslim capitals occupied.

Afganistan is far from "safe", only a few key citys are controlled, the mountains are still uncontrolled and the drug production despite what Bush admin says is still huge..

I would say the score is quite a bit different than that. Osama wanted America out of the middle east. Bush took over a country in the middle east. Osama bombed a couple buildings.the army has killed more people. What do you base the score on exactly?

Im not a Bush supporter, just saying that if someone were keeping score, I would say the guy hiding is probably not winning.

That's the thing: Bush doesn't respect the civilians either. He doesn't do civilian bodycounts, uses WMD in urban areas and Iraqis are still being tortured to death (just like under Saddam).
And who says Osama is hiding? He looked pretty comfortable for a hiding fugitive on his last video appearance. And he doesn't have the army Bush has behind him, still he is too smart for Bush. Terrorist attacks have increased not just a bit, but drammatically. In short: in the War On Terror Osama is winning.

That's what they do, stop watching TV. If you think the US army is concerned about civilian casualties in Iraq you're deaf dumb and blind. Concerned about having the casualties reported in the media perhaps.

SuckOnThis 07-08-2005 11:45 AM

So much for the republicans propaganda that all the terrorists suddenly flew over to Iraq and its better to fight them there. All Iraq did was create more hatred and terrorists, just a matter of time before we are hit again. I also think its a bad sign nothing has happened here since 9/11. Anyone that thinks there arent terrorists here is an idiot, and the fact that nothing has happened shows there is something huge in the works.

JJ Gold 07-08-2005 11:49 AM

Body count........that is what matters. The United States and the coalition have killed tens of thousands more of "them".

I say keep it up. Turn their deserts into glass.

I too hate to defend Bush and his buddies in Washington. But your post was right on.
