Hey Germans, whats a "Luftballon"

Because "balloon" is spelled "balloon," with 2 "O"'s. So maybe its some crazy German thing, like that spicerack thing in your fridge where you put the eggs.

The Truth Hurts 07-07-2005 10:44 PM

it's german for balloon.

mrthumbs 07-07-2005 10:44 PM

A luftballon is that spicecrack thing in your fridge where you put your eggs in.. and then 99 of them.

Loki 07-07-2005 10:45 PM

Cool, we have a debate raging now. The Truth Hurts says its German for balloon, and you say its Red Balloons. Who is right?

High Plains Drifter 07-07-2005 10:47 PM

Its a metaphor for nuclear holocaust. Ninety-nine of them in a row, if I'm not mistaken.

It's German for "Lift the baloney"

That Nina chick's song was about her lifting the baloney 99 times.

Nina was a tranny, obviously. :D

wedouglas 07-07-2005 11:06 PM

I'm telling you, luftballon means lift the baloney. :D

It's a tranny anthem.

nofx 07-07-2005 11:19 PM

Goldfinger did a great cover of the song

High Plains Drifter 07-07-2005 11:30 PM

whoa, whoa, WHOA there folks. The only version of that song that really matters is the live 7 Seconds version. The original is cool for kitschy german Debbie Gibson vocals, but Kevin and crew gave that song some soul and meaning.

Shit.... I remember knowing every word to that song

I remember sitting in my bedroom with some serious 80's hair crying to that song. I hated my teen years.

I concur, Luft = Air

Rot = Red

If the English version were translated back to German it would be 99 Rot Balloons.

Paco, of Large Cash. 07-08-2005 12:29 PM

Part of the title of a very very very cheesy tune, from the eighties.
