I've had sigs ignored forever, great feature, but with the recent 150+ posts-per-day sig whores this week, enough is enough.

Tired of sigs, sig whores, sig drama, sig abusing sponsor contests, sig everything.

Sig whoring is a business. Believe it or not, a lot of these people sig whoring are outsourced laborers posting to give programs exposure.

I actually like sigs, first of all I recognize the posts of people I want to read by their sigs and second of all sometimes I find useful links in sigs :2 cents:

And sicone, my sig is a PIC, not a click through. Whole different ballgame. No one is paying me for "x" amount of worthless posts that pollute the board to have this pic in it. It's there so people can recognize the poster more easily. Take your meds.

Wrong. Turning off sigs has nothing to do with idiots posting thousands of worthless bumps, one-line responses, and general distractions, as has been the case this week.

And if you actually read my original post in this thread, it says that I turned off sigs ages ago. Read FIRST people, I know this is hard, but stay with me. :winkwink:

That's why I edited my post. I actually agree with you to an extent... the sig drama is getting out of hand... established sig guys versus new sig guys and "call out" threads. Basically pots calling kettles black. It used to be entertaining... not anymore. Maybe people are feeling threatened cuz instead of being able to charge 25 cents a post, the outsourced price per post is way way lower so they feel threatened?

544 in a year? Try 375 in just two days as three asshat sig whores have accomplished just this week alone. Where do we draw the line?

No question. The people speaking up most vocally in a negative way, including personal attacks, are the ones driving a significant portion of their monthly income simply from spamming a message board. That alone speaks volumes to the issue.

It's one thing in say CD_Smith's case, where he runs contests (trivia questions for prizes), helps new webmasters maximize their revenue with personal help, and is a genuine BENEFIT to a sponsor on GFY. He's a perfect example of how in a perfect world, sponsored sigs would be an asset.

But for every CD_Smith there are ten jackasses here posting "thumbs up" in every thread simply to qualify for some idiotic sponsor prize. That's the real issue.

It seems like calling out the program that hires the sig whores is a better idea. The sig guys are just trying to make a living. If it wasn't such a big deal to have your company banner flying in every thread, it wouldn't matter. But most people go with a company they've see a million times. Company Branding. Though it seems to have backfired on one company here recently.

yes, the problem is not the sigs but the amount ppl post in order to get sig views/clicks. established ppl like juicy, ect. i couldn't care less but its these new assholes who come in here and post 100+ posts per day. why doesn't anyone post their actual sites in their sigs? i used to to have some programs in my sig but i felt it made me look cheap and i don't post enough to make anything off it anyhow. i hate all the "sig spot" bullshit. totally negates the whole point of a forum.

it doesn't stop anyone from making posts simply to expose their sig though. also if you make any kind of decent money from adult why do you need to make money via a sig? like i mentioned board persona's like juicy get paid some good money for it but the average probably makes 50-200 bucks a month off it. either way nothing will change, the more useless inane stupid posts the more ad views for the board.
