One of my employees lost an Uncle in the U.K.

She just received the phone call from her mother and I sent her home. She wasn't in good shape. Her uncle just visited her 3 weeks ago so he is still fresh in her mind. He was on his way to work this morning in the U.K. when one of the bombs went off and he was killed. I don't have all the details and I don't know which explosion took his life.

I feel really bad for her and I knew that the possibility was weighing heavily on her all day. Why is this world so fucked up!?!?!

As I sit here reading this, I remember earlier on today I thought.... Would I know anyone who died due to this thing, or know anyone who knew anyone.

Fucked up world. Sorry to hear about your employee.

I just got off the phone with her and from what I gather her uncle was on the double decker bus that exploded. I insisted that she take as much time off as she needs and I ensured her that I would pay her while she was out. She told me that she would be in first thing tomorrow morning but when she gets in I'm going to send her home. She needs time to grieve.

This is the first time I actually knew someone that was directly affected by a terrorist attack and it really does put a whole new light on the current world situation.

Encourage her to take time off to grieve, but don't force her to. Its easier for some people to stick with their regular daily routine, as it keeps their minds off unpleasant thoughts.

I agree 100%.

Let her decide what she wants to do.
For some taking the time off is the best way to lessen the grief but others would rather want to busy themselves with things to keep their mind off from such tragedy.

These terrorists are insane lunatics to get so much pain across so many lives of their victims and their families as well.
