I have a friend that was doing something like this on a much smaller scale. It was in everquest and he made a character ( some kind of cleric or mage ) and got it to a very high level. He would then make macros that would allow him to log in with that character then log in on another computer with a new character and use the macros to have the high level guy cast spells on the low level guy. The macros ran all day while he was at work then he would come home and the low level guy was all but invincible so he would run out and kill some huge level guys after a week of doing this he had a new high level character that he sold in an acution for anywhere fomr $700-$1200 a piece. for a while he was doing about 4-5 of these a month. Not bad for a part time gig.
sounds interesting, another money making opportunity :thumbsup
that is some messed up shit

Very very interesting. I know people buy and sell "homes" in UO (I played it in 1999) but I guess the market has EXPLODED since then. Here in the Philippines, people actually exchange REAL money for online money for a game called RAGNAROK.
Choice quote: "Since 1998, the second-party market for MMORPG loot has steadily grown. Last year alone, this newfound industry grossed roughly $500 million, according to Bob Kiblinger of UOTreasures. CGW decided it was high time to go underground and find some of the key players who are going after a piece of the action." |
Another choice quote: "as much as $60,000 per month"
Hmmmmm.... |
That's fucked up...
I know of a few people on GFY that make quite a bit of money on WoW.

I've written a bot that will farm for you and level a character automagically. It is pretty advanced, and I've used it to go 1-60 on many characters, with thousands of gold earned while I've slept.
Is anyone interested in something like this? It took me about 4 months to write, and I haven't given it out to anyone. |
bump because WoW farming/chars is a profitable business
holy fuck i would never have imagined there were sweatshops for this stuff.
i need to start one of these sweatshops
That is kind of fucked up.

I was addicted to WoW for months and the amount of Chinese people on my server was just crazy. Their characters would typically be on 24/7 and they would repetively kill the same MOBs in the same area over and over. They were all over and knew little English and totally ruined the game's economy, inflating prices.
