According to the magazine "Woman's World", the average toilet will last around 50 years before needing replacement or repair.

Penrod wins. :D

What the hell ever. I've had to fix my toilet 3 times since I've moved into this place a year ago. :Oh crap

sickkittens 07-07-2005 09:12 AM

I was going to say wife, but then I saw it was 50 and not 5. :winkwink:

I think they're talking about the porcelain unit itself, not the inner workings of it or it's extra parts.

I agree, I've had to have my toilet tinkered with on several occasions since buying this house 12 years ago. But I've never had to fix the actual toilet itself. Those things last.

Penrod 07-07-2005 09:13 AM

I ICQ'd you :)

When I said "One guess is damn close" I was referring to yours.

From my own experience, my tub has needed work a few times. I'm talking the tub itself, had to have it re-glazed once, and some cosmetic repair on another occasion. I've never had to fix my actual toilet bowl and tank though. The plumbing needed fixing, but not the toilet itself ever.

Although... I had to replace the seat one time. :D

We'll wrap up the week with one more question tomorrow!

I assumed that to mean there are still quite a lot of homes with outhouses.
