My pool guy endangered my dogs life should i fire him?

He was here today and left the gate open. I kinda feel bad as he was a good pool guy but today he screwed up. I walked out of the office and noticed the gate was open. I called the dog no answer. I freaked and ran all over the house. I looked up and down the street to no luck then I finally found him pissing on the neighbors bushes.

He ran to me and all was well but I really do not think I can keep the pool guy on after this.

    Any input?

If yu fire him for just leaving a gate open he could take you to court. There is no way that is classed as gross misconduct.

Don't let your dog out unsupervised when he's there.
When he leaves, check the gate before letting fido loose.

He is a contractor with a one week contract at all time.
I do not think he reads GFY. I was just looking for personal advice. This is not a legal matter

            Thanks for your input.

If he is good... give him a warning that his contract may not be renewed.

If he's average... fuck it. Definitely don't let the dog out while he's there, though.

Yes, no reason to fire the guy for one mistake, just let him know you're very unhappy with it

Reprimandng him will be the best thing to do. If he does it again, then maybe that's the time to fire him.

I would talk to him and ask him to make sure he gets the gate shut, if he does it again, fire him
