My Very Good Friend John Hughes (adult webmaster) Lost His Father Today

John is the webmaster for one of my sites: AmateurMarket.net

This is the message he wrote in the member's area today to explain to members why updates will be different the next few days:

I woke up today at 8:00 to a phone call from my father. I was expecting this call because we talked about it last night. You see we had a tree trimmer coming to his house this morning, to cut some trees and my son and I were to help my dad load up the trailer and hall off the remains. Let me step back a few days, I just sold my house here in town and bought a small ranch in the country, nothing fancy, just a little 10 acre parcel. I had planned on getting a small single wide manufactured home for my father and having him move on to the property where we can take care of him. He is 66 years old, and has high blood pressure.

Back to today: I got a phone call from him asking me if I would bring over the trailer and help him pick up the branches that had fallen in to his neighbor's yard, I was pretty tired and had only had a couple hours sleep but I did it anyway.. grabbed something to eat loaded up the trailer and off I went. The three of us loaded up the trailer behind my truck and ran out of room. My wife stopped by with Starbucks for me and a happy meal for my son and he wanted to leave with her but I told him that his grandpa needs the help and it's time to be a man and help us out and he did without complaint and it made me proud.

There was another pile of brush and my dad wanted to cut it up and move it to the street where it will be easy to load in a day or so when the waste facility is open (small town). I told him to leave it for now because it's very hot out and that I will come move it after emptying the trailer. I left around 9:30 and too tired to sleep I decided to go for a walk a couple miles out of town to the property that we are buying, when I got back an unmarked car pulled up and asked me who I was and told me that my father had passed away, I flew over there and he was still laying on the ground in front of his house with his chain saw near him, the pile was all done and laying neatly at the curb. My stubborn father didn't take my advice and go on inside where it was cool and rest like he should have. I have to word it this way because it is easier on me to blame him then to feel the guilt that I should have stayed around a while knowing that he wasn't about to quit until the job was done.

At this moment I can't remember my last words to my father, I can't remember when the last time it was that I gave him a hug and told him that I loved him. Everything is cloudy right now and it feels like a bad dream!

I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU AREN?T PAYING MEMBERSHIP TO DEAL WITH JOHN HUGHES' PROBLEMS... I'm sorry for mentioning it here, and I'm not asking for sympathy either. But do yourselves a favor... if your parents and children are well then stop what you are doing and let them know that you love them TODAY! Tomorrow could be too late!

It's going to be a tough next few days but I'm going to try and keep the updates rolling through them, Someone else may be doing the commentaries. Maybe DP? I'll try to get back to it next week.

-John

So, should I do the updates and commentaries for him or tell him to cowboy up and face his responsibilities like a man?

Seriously, I was just trying to make the best out of a tough situation by writing that comment. His dad was a very nice man. This was a shock.

Hug your loved ones today, people!

I do not know John, but I know exactly how he feels. My father passed away last July 15, at the age of 66, under almost the exact same circumstances. I hope he and his family are comforted in the coming days with the knowledge that his father was doing what he wanted to do.

Wow. That is very sad news. My father has been in poor health for the past year, and I wake up every day and wish I could give him a hug. It's tough not knowing when that day will come.

My very best wishes go out to John. I hope his grieving period isn't too hard for him.
