So guys just how far would you go?

You have a pain in your neck, the doctor gives you pills for the pain and muscle relaxing pills as well.

Your mother shows up with a pink scarf for you to wear around your neck. It has magnets in it and it will help she tells you....

So would you do it?

She leaves...will you still wear it?

The next day would you put it back on?

I just need to know......

After Shock Media 07-05-2005 07:14 PM

Magnet therapy is bullshit!

baddog 07-05-2005 07:14 PM

If it worked, yes. Pink is the new black.

Spunky 07-05-2005 07:16 PM

I would try it..some people swear by magnet therapy..maybe mothers do know best

Not sure, but I think that is the problem with all migranes

pornguy 07-05-2005 07:22 PM

Some strange things work for some people. Give it a try.

Orange is the new red, purple is the new green . . . . at least that is how I heard it.

baddog 07-05-2005 07:38 PM

and yeah, after looking at it a couple times, I have come to the conclusion that I have spelled migraine wrong, twice

Never heard of it, but IF it works I would guess it's one of two things. Either it's all in the person's head, like the placebo, or, it has to do with the fact our bodies supposedly are, or have electrical signals running through them, and perhaps the magnets effect that in one way or another.

:Oh crap

No, I thought it looked wrong the first time, not really sure why I repeated it the second time.

slapass 07-05-2005 07:40 PM

y=1/x(squared)

This is how quickly the force degrades. Something to think about the next time you want to get excited about magnet therapy or power lines over head.

Supposedly?

bawdy 07-05-2005 07:41 PM

magnet therapy is a crock... but doesnt mean that putting magnets on people doesnt help them feel better... aka the placebo effect

GigoloJustin 07-05-2005 07:46 PM

Fuck it, take a percocet!

CDSmith 07-05-2005 07:48 PM

I plugged in my toaster near my bed and slept with it one night. Woke up feeling much better.

I call it the pop-tart effect. :D

goodgirl 07-05-2005 07:48 PM

okay lets try this another way.....

Would you wear the pink scarf or pull the magnets out and put them in I don't know...blue bandana?

A blue bandana would be kind of gay. Blue is the new pink.

MattO 07-05-2005 07:51 PM

My mother would know not to dare give me such a thing.

goodgirl 07-05-2005 08:03 PM

She also brought these magnet balls...yes I said it...MAGNET BALLS. Spiked even....

hmmm

anyway, she said to leave them in the container and rub them on his neck. Telling me this like I'm going to rub them on his neck. 20 years and she doesn't have a fucking clue.....

Just agree, nod and smile... and think about which nursing home you'll be locking her away in soon. :D

Correct.

I do not know enough about the electrical signals, and the medical research on such things to speak matter of fact about it. So I defer to those who have a bit more knowledge about such things. Both electrical signals, and magnets.

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic, just taking a guess on the matter.

:thumbsup

kowntafit 07-05-2005 08:06 PM

This is a fucking funny thread.

chadglni 07-05-2005 08:09 PM

I'd rather wear magnets than shove a handful of pills, that are on the market only because they make someone rich, down my throat.

your neurological system is highly electrical

CDSmith 07-05-2005 08:26 PM

I missed something.... what is it that magnets are supposed to be curing?

Would they ease the discomfort of blueballs?

I bet there's a fortune to be made in magnetic underwear...

Really I like her, she is strange and definitely nuts....

I had to have the most fucked up look on my face when she was telling me to massage his neck with those balls.....

And it wasn't because they are magnet balls....it was the fact that she thought I would massage his neck.

I don't go near him when he is grouchy. Fuck that.

I think there should be Cum Pills, for Cum flavors. The new white chocolate...

The next time she wants you to go to the store for chocolate, just pull down your pants and let her go to town :1orglaugh

MattO 07-05-2005 08:32 PM

Some links:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/q...&dopt=Abstract
CONCLUSION: Exposure to static magnets for up to 30 minutes had the same effect on resting forearm blood flow and vascular resistance as placebo magnets. These data suggest that static magnets do not result in significant alterations in resting blood flow.

Magnet study contradicts "increased circulation" claim.

I hope you didn't think I was referring to me. I haven't had blue balls in over 8 years, maybe nine.

I was thinking of all the loot to be made from selling magnetic fruit of the looms.

That reminds me when I was 16 and he slammed my thumb in the car door he laughed and offered to stomp on my toe.

I may have to try the chin thing....

Thanks for the follow up B.D.. :thumbsup

I had heard bits and pieces about it. Both from your nervous system, heart, and so on. But had never done, or read much on it beyond hearing about it here, and there. It definately makes sense.

Back on topic, haven't a clue how magnets would effect this, but if it helps those "who believe", so be it. I've heard a lot of things about herbs, and other stuff as well over the years, but I am not one for taking pills period. Including aspirin, or simple pain pills. But if all these things can help someone, especially with migranes, I can't fault them.

:pimp

Pink scarf and magnets should fix that, try it for a week. If not, at least you will look pretty all week :winkwink:
