Your worse fireworks accident?
Nothing has ever happened to me, but I almost lost my finger last night.
I like to light firecrackers in my hand and then throw them. One actually went off while I was still holding it, but it was a dud and barely went off. Very close call. A few years ago I lit off a large smoke bomb that I normally would have been holding since they are harmless, but I set this one down. It malfunctioned and blew up like an M80. |
yikes. that was close.
nothing like that happened to me before..guess you should be extra careful. |

I did...It was my fault
I made a home made firework/display "Sticky Nade" About 2lbs of poweder wraped up in a coffee filter with duct tape all over I lit it and stuck it to the mailbox when I saw it was melting the mailbox I smacked it to knock it off.. the Tape acted like napalm and stuck to my hand.. It sucked. |
I made a little golf ball sized bomb once. I packed that fucker so damn tight. If that fucker went off it would have blew a hold in the gorund at least 4 feet wide and 4 feet deep easily. All it had was a 2 inch firecracker fuze. Definately not enough time to light it, throw it and hide. So I soaked it and chucked it in the garbage.
i wish I would have found a safe way to light the fucker. |

The paper towels would ignite the match head and turn blow up the fucker |
Fortunately, haven't experien ce it yet. But my mom told me I once tried to eat a gunpowder when I was still a kid...lol

I have two, last year we set of some big tube fireworks(shells) and I was walking up to light another and the left over part of it that was burning hot fell into my eye. I couldnt see out of it for a few days, went to the doctor and he cleaned it out. Luckily no permenent damage. A few years before I was at a friends house and one fell down the back of my shirt burning the hell out of my back. Needless to say I think I will watch from the porch next time.. lol

We were lighting off 3" mortars and we had a guy (brothers friend) put 2 3" mortars into 1 tube like an idiot, the bottom morter went off before the top one, it blew the bottom out of the tube, and point it back towards me when the top mortar shout out and exploded 2 feet from me on the ground. Everyone watching only saw a flash of light and me jumping, away from it.
Lucikly I didn't get hurt, but that was the last firework that guy was asked to light off. I have also heard about about a family friend (i wasn't there) who like an idiot stuck his face over the tube while lighting a 3" mortar and the wick burned really fast and shot out and hit him in the forehead and killed him. Fireworks can be dangerous thats for sure, every year we put on a display, but we started moving away from mortars and using the bigger cakes to make things easier and have a nicer display. |
a couple close calls this year we had 5 mortar tubes setup and some people dont know how to pay attention when you tell them to wait for the countdown to light the wick
|
that could've hurt!
