Having an office for the sole purpose of 2257?

So if you read the regulations, it states that you have to be available during business hours to show whatever phantasmal government agency decides to show up at your door your 2257 records. Has anyone who was previously just working out of their home.. or doing this part time actually setup an office due to the new regulations. I can only imagine what would happen if they came when you werent home or at your office.. you'd come home to a house with no doors and no computers.

So i guess my question is has anyone actually gone that extra mile? Another question is, does anyone have a company set up that you can use as a custodian of records or is that not allowed? I remember hearding about that awhile ago, you could use a 3rd party as a custodian of records for your pay site or what/not.. But i'm not sure if thats valid under the new regulations.

Sorry if i ask too many fucking questions.

I am seriously thinking of renting a small office in Las Vegas. 2257 requires that the office be a "place of business" and that you spend at least 20 hours a week open.

Anyone from Vegas wanna share a place? I have seen small office rents starting at $375 a month.

Office condos sell at around $240 a sq. ft. here.

this is the reason I shut down my site - made me non-compliant - looking into this as well - it's very expensive, but I was looking for a studio anyway.

i can see spending 20 hours per week in an office, but you better be very sure of the person or company you rent with. if they have something non-compliant, you could end up with your computers taken, too, till everything is sorted out.

Though I was flamed to death on another thread regarding this...

You can NOT have a 3rd party hold your records, but there are ways around this entire issue if you sit down with your attorney and are willing to push it a little.

i have asked this question before, no one seems to want to answer because they proably won't be following the rules. I say get a nice little apartment to work out for your 20 hours a week and you got the place as your office and a bachelor pad to bring the ladies

what is the problem, just hire some space and finally leave your parents house and rent whatever !

Yes, we have an office now purely for 2257 regs. :)
