How do the liberals compare to the taliban concerning:

Size of Government Control
Private Gun Ownership
Private Property Ownership
Private Healthcare
Private Industry
Taxation

Real liberals want a small state, taxes as low as possible, a strong private industry, and well-protected rights of private property.

Where are the Conservatives on each issue?

I'm sorry, but I dont think you understand what liberalism is. You have described the conservative values as a "real liberal".

That is just a fact. Liberal leaders will tell you they do not want small government, low taxes and private industry. We saw what the liberal judges did to private property.

I think you believe in those things you listed. How does it feel to find out that you have been voting liberal when you are really a conservative?

I think you are the one who doesn't understand what liberalism is. In fact, I don't just think that, I am entirely sure of that.

The values I described are values of economic freedom. Economic freedom combined with social freedom is liberalism. Economic freedom minus the social freedom is conservatism. Strongly limited economic freedom combined with social freedom is social liberalism.

Americans like you tend to use the terms in an erroneous, incoherent way (for example by equating "liberal" with "left-wing"), without realizing the origins, full meaning and underlying political theory of terms.

So how does it feel to find out you are talking about things without even fully understanding the relevant terminology?

FunforOne liberalism in America is much different than liberalism where punkworld comes from. The liberals here are actually more like socialists and the liberals in europe are more like conservatives lol.

yea, I had a response typed, but then I realised that we weren't comparing apples to apples.

The problem I see is that most American's who claim to be liberals have no understanding of the differences.

It is not a derogatory statement to say that liberals (US) believe in increased government control over private ownership in many aspects of our lives.


Many self proclaimed liberal voters in the US have incorrectly assigned conservative values to liberalism.

The most telling was the emminent domain decsion. Many GFY's thought that was Bush's decision to take over the country. That decision is the stuff that the liberals are fillabustering to keep.


I doubt many US democrats would like to give up their guns, private medical insurance, private property and private retirement accounts, but they will support the democratic party in a fight to get a person on the supreme court with values to take those things away from them.

It doesn't make since to me.
