Need Help! Laptop Specs

I'm getting a Dell Inspiron XPS Gen 2 and could use a little help getting the stuff I need for it. I'll be using it for the usual webmaster stuff, video editing, design stuff, a few games now and then and occasional web cam shit cause I'm a freaky lil bitch.
I'd like to keep it for a while so I'm trying to get whats important while keeping it below 5k. Basically i'm not a real high tech type of girl I don't have to have all the most expensive shit just so i can say I have it, I'm the type that will use this thing til it drops dead then get a new one so I would like to get enough so I have a good laptop but not buy stuff that really isn't going to make much difference in the preformance. Any suggestions from those who know about this stuff would be helpful.

this is what i have selected so far
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 760 (2 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition
1Yr Ltd Warranty, 1Yr Mail-In Service, and 1Yr Technical Support
CompleteCare Accidental Damage Svc to 1Yr Lim Warranty
XPS Specialized Support included. Dell technicians specifically trained on XPS platforms
17 inch UltraSharp? Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife?
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm
8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer write capability
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce? Go 6800 Ultra
9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery (80 WHr)
9-cell Lithium Ion Additional Battery (80 WHr)
PCMCIA Sound Blaster® Audigy® 2 ZS Notebook sound card
300GB USB External Hard Drive (7200rpm)
Intel® PRO 2915 and Dell 350 Bluetooth Internal Wireless Card
LINKSYS WRT54GS 802.11b/g Wireless-G with SpeedBooster Broadband Router
Tripplite Traveler Direct Plug-In Surge Suppressor

my questions
There doesn't seem to be much difference between these 2 processors, is it worth $300. extra for me to go with the 770?
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 770 (2.13 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 760 (2 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)

Can you explain to me what the benifits of the 2GB vs the 1GB would be?
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm

I'm getting the 300GB USB External Hard Drive, so do I really need the LINKSYS WRT54GS 802.11b/g Wireless-G with SpeedBooster Broadband Router. My thinking is anything I need to move back and forth between my desktop and this laptop I can do with the extrenal hard drive. Am I correct?

Thanks :)

those specs are sexy..my gen. 1 XPS is humming along and running great.I went with a 80 gig hd and running a couple externals via USB.The difference in processor speed isnt that much,so its not a true necessity unless you are going to do a lot of video rendering and CPU using processes
