It was legal to burn the flag. I believe I saw something on CSpan the other day saying it is now Illegal. If it is Illegal now our Freedom of Speech took a step back.

Freedom of speech works both way. In Canada if you let a flag touch the ground you must burn it and replace it with a new one. A flag should be respected and letting it touch the ground is the worst breach of etiquette.

It's a disgrace to the flag.
I think it's the same deal in finland.
The way americans treat the flag is not very patriotic.. it's plastered EVERYWHERE, and it's dirty and it may be ripped a bit.. not good.

That doesn't answer the question of who says a flag MUST be burned after simply touching the ground, and what are the consequences of not doing so.
