I mean if i was going to sell a service i would know what a company did before trying to sell them on my service.

You would think so, but a lot of times I think they get caught up in the sales machine. Like a lot of businesses these days, if they can get your name, phone number, e-mail, ICQ or some way to contact you, they want to give you the sale pitch.

I know atleast once a week I get a call from someone who hasn't a clue what kinda company I run, and is trying to pitch me something. I'm sure some of you have had it as well. Even when you explain to them there is neve going to be a need for whatever it is they are selling, they keep on with the pitch 'til you introduce them to your good friend dial tone.

every day on ICQ those people hit me up...
I chat with them for 5 minutes, and then tell them to send me a mail with info on what they got... most of the time they dont even send a mail.. If they cant spam their affiliatecodes on ICQ they move along - most of them

Seriously, this drives me nuts. Especially people telling me we have fresh new hosted galleries. Good for you, go contact a TGP webmaster then. LOL

if anyone spams me and doesn't make their point swift and accurate, i blacklist their sites. i fuckin hate being bothered by sales staff.

course.... that's probably why about 80% of the sponsors i promote are just straight ccbill sites....

i refuse to send traffic to sales reps that hit me up on icq with the intention of getting my traffic. all sites that have sales reps either are over saturated or they just plain out suck and thats why they need a sales rep.

Yesterday I got hit up by an outsourcing designer who asked if I was still looking for work.

I am a designer myself so I kindly told him to buzz off. :1orglaugh

hhmm.. Realitycash.com--- RRRED hit me up once... but she did a DAMM good job.

:( -- you're absolutely right -- TY -- sometimes, the "sprit of humor" leads me into arrogant waters -- but, i SHOULD try harder to contain that -- thanks, seriously -- :)

its different when you're already an affiliate and they ask you if you need anything. rrred also contacted me and helped me with something i needed. i didnt specify in my post, but i was talking about sales reps who just got your icq somewhere and decided to bug you about signing up for their program.

I'm flattered by the kind words guys! :thumbsup I hope to god by now I can be somewhat helpful without having to spam myself down peoples throats.

I get totally irritated when I get hit up on icq to send them traffic when they don't even know where I work or who I know or what I do, etc. Then 9 times out of 10 when I mention "trade" or "recip" or even "se" or anything related to traffic of any kind, they have no idea what I'm talking about.

That's why I think the sales department should have at least one of their reps in charge of traffic. Maybe not all traffic but at least a specified chunk.

id like this thread to be constructive if possible.

take from it what you will...i do appreciate being hit up, how else could you find out about hot new ideas or items etc...however some basic research is very helpful in closing the deal..imo

Now u can understand my frustrations with this business a lot more
