Hello. Are you kidding? That's one of the best investments we've made. Only $300 Mil.

Now the planet is a hell of a lot safer because NASA just showed the US has the technology to nail a meteor on an impact course with Earth.

They weren't playing it from that angle clearly, but that was the true objective of this mission and it succeeded perfectly.

Yeah - now I feel a lot safer. Its a mini stone, and that impact is like a mosquito hitting an airplane :1orglaugh

Hey your right

Ill sleep a whole lot better now! Knowing that if we get at least a years notice that a meteor is going to hit earth we can hit it with an 800Lb brass dumbell. Great news.

I liked their explanation of the mission: "We're gonna hit a bullet, with a bullet, from a bullet." I had cloud cover last night or I'd have been out on the veranda watching. This was only a "can do" project. It tells us the "how, what and why" when an asteroid shows up that "matters." Now, the basic "can we hit it" question has been answered...when it didn't count!

i get to live 60+ more, i feel safe now

Interesting movie....I didn't think that comets would have craters..

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 07-04-2005 08:49 AM

Personally it sounds like a waste of money to me. I would have rather seen them shoot a real washing machine into the meteor, like a big ol' Maytag or something.

Cool name though...

Girl sits down at bar next to NASA nerd and asks him what he does. I'm a member of the Deep Impact team. Girl melts, LOL.

Since it's July 4th, it's worth noting that if there is one thing Americans are good at, it's blowing shit up.

acctman 07-06-2005 08:43 AM

we all know Bruce Willis and his oil drilling team will save us. nothing the worry about hollywood already solved that problem

p.s. that video looks fake more like someone was holding up a picture of a right and was walking towards the cam. don't tell buzz aldrin though

Not true when you factor in the impact speed
