2257 in Canada

Do the new 2257 laws affect canadian hosted and operated freehosts? If not, what are the new conditons for a freehost to operate in USA? Does Canada have something similar to the new 2257 law to pass in USA?

IMO, a Canadian company/webmaster following 2257 would violate Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. Hell, you can even be in deep trouble under C-PIPED for having such document in your possession, do not download these documents from sponsors if your Canadian.

The USA has got absulotely no power on canada.

Pump out the porn from your base in canada to canadian servers - FINE.
Upload smut to US servers from canada - FINE.

Do as you will - youre in Canada - its the Yanks that have to put up with their own laws - they voted that in - its their own doing - Canadians have naff all to do with it.

Basically - any person doing the business in their own country - and within the legal boundaries of their own country can stick two fingers up at the United States 2257 laws.

No one in another country is going to get into any trouble by Sheriff Roscoe cos he didnt have his 2257 complient docs.

Its an american problem - leave it to them

If you are careless, yes.

Get a lawyer to draw up the proper release forms and you will be fine.

The only problem I see with opporating from Canada is processing. Who are some of the main processors used in the industry that do not need 2257 notises or a U.S. corporation? Is a Canadian safe using a U.S. Corporation in the adult industry but following Canadian privacy laws?

As a Canadian affiliate, I wouldn't download or want to have in my possession personal info of a content girl. It's too risky.
