Late at night about when clubs close, most people driving are buzzed. Probably the most dangerous time to be in a car.

Driving home (without worry of police DUI check-points) and dodging those other drivers who already have a buzz on, and THEN drinking after safely parking one's car sounds like a winner to/for me; besides, watching the televised firworks while drinking gives me a pretty good view--and it's a LOT safer:-))
