My updated thoughts on the Tom Cruise water squirting incident.

Yes, i know the story is old, but i have new thoughts on it, after watching Punk'd last night.

What would have happened if it had been Ashton Kutcher that had played the prank on Tom and squirted the water? I think Tom would have laughed, high fived him, hugged him, "Great prank dawg, you really got me man, hahaha" etc etc

So what is the real issue with the water squirting prank. I think it is that a mere "mortal" dared to play the prank on Tom. Guys like Tom probably have godcomplex ego's you can't even fathom. They are subject to a different set of rules than you and I, and are "entitled" to special treatment from us.

The prankster essentially put himself on Tom's level by playing the prank on him. To Tom, this guy was saying, "I am as good as you. I am on your level. I am in your clicke, I play by the rules you play by, we are the same."

THAT is what infuriated Tom imho. If the guy had pulled off a disguise and it was Ashton saying "You been Punk'd!" Tom would've loved it. Because Ashton IS on his level. He is rich, famous and powerful. He is ALLOWED to play on Tom's level because he is a "God" just like Tom is.

At the end of the day, the incident was all about one of "us" assuming he could play with one of "them".

Discuss.

I didn't see it, but if someone would squirt water on me I would be pissed to, except for when I was being pranked..

Isn't that the same?

It's a fucking prank and it's only water.

With all the bullshit propanganda Tom's been doing with scientology and his crusade against psychotherapy and anti depressant medication, Tom should consider himself lucky that he wasn't squirted with gasoline and have a match lit on him.

The guy is getting to be full of himself, worse than John Travolta, a fellow scientologist, has ever been and he really should shut the hell up and continue doing what he does best, play Jerry Macguire like idiots and make a fool of himself on Oprah.

Yes and I agree. Let me say overall I think Tom handled the situation great. As good as can be expected. But, i would expect the anger to subside after maybe 30 seconds, not last so long and result in pressing charges etc.

Just like if a friend of mine did that to me. Right at the instant I would be real mad, "goddamnit asshole what are you doing?" but then he would start laughing, I would start laughing, within 30 seconds it would be a funny joke. Because he is on my level, my walk of life, people play pranks on one another, it happens.

To Tom, this was a peasant assuming he could "play" with the gods.
