Eagles laugh off talk of Owens-Porter trade

While it sure made for some interesting speculation, don't count on the Raiders forming a superpower receiving combo of Terrell Owens and Randy Moss.

Broadcast rumors Thursday the Raiders and Eagles were discussing a trade that would bring Owens to the Raiders in exchange for receiver Jerry Porter. But a high-ranking Eagles official just laughed it off.

"It won't happen," the Eagles official told Phillyburbs.com.

Owens has spent the off-season demanding a raise and grumbling about holding out until he gets one. But the Eagles have stood firm, refusing to rework his contract and with players and management taking many opportunities to let Owens know that they can with win him or without him in the lineup.

"Like I always said, if I'm one of the top players in the game, pay me like I'm one of the top players in the game," Owens said in an interview on Comcast SportsNet. "That's not being selfish. That's not being greedy. Right is right and wrong is wrong. ...

"I don't have to play football. I don't have to play for the Eagles. It doesn't matter what any of my teammates have said about me. That doesn't matter to me."

Owens caught 77 passes for 1,200 yards and a club-record 14 touchdowns last season, and he had a big game in the Eagles' Super Bowl loss to the Patriots.

Porter caught 64 passes for 998 yards and nine touchdowns last season and signed a lucrative contract extension this off-season.

To hell with TO. I'd rather have Porter who is very similar to TO in size, speed, and skill.... all that he's not a crybaby, egomaniac, me-first, drama queen, like TO is.

2 receivers won't mean shit if you can't get them the ball.

Its not going to happen, Raiders don't have the cap room.

Plus if it did happen, he'd get less catches, not because Moss is catching more, it's just that Kerry Collins blows as an NFL QB

Not only that, but TO would immediately start crying about who gets more catches. Soon after that he'd stop talking to Randy, start yelling at the coaches, throwing sideline fits, calling Kerry Collins gay and basically rip the heart and moral out of the team from the inside out and fuck the entire season for the whole organization just like he did in SF to the 9ers.

slightly off topic...I actually think Garcia would have been a better fit in Oakland than SF because he's got kind of a "controlled chaos" style. He's aging but I still think he can turn out to have a cinderella end to his career much like other journeymen quarterbacks like Rypen and Gannon did. He's from the area and I think he'd be worth a try for Oakland.

That's not really accurate. Collins is a excellent qb and had a good season last year after taking over the helm. Combined with Moss and Porter, you'll have a hell of a passing game. Collins may not be "elite", but he's a good back. Shit he's better than both Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer and both of those qb's took their teams to the Superbowl and won. Consider yourselves lucky to have Collins.

Trust me, I'm a Bears fan - I know what a bad qb looks like.
