Really it could not get any worse ! |
he would have to recuse himself from many cases. possibly also any 2257 cases that reach the supreme court
|
The 2257 changes would have happened regardless of who was placed in the AG position. Reno enabled it, Ashcroft set it in motion, and his successor had no choice but to "do something" with it. I honestly don't think he spends much time thinking about how to battle porn - he is merely doing what he can to appease all that he must.
I think it would be better for America if he was appointed to the SC. He is more liberal than many that could be appointed. As powerful a position as it appears to be, the position of AG is really that of a puppet. SCJs however, are damn near next to (your deity here). The scary thing, of course, is not knowing who would replace him as AG. |
Very bad turn of events
|
I don't think that he could get appointed. He is the stereotypical "yes man" and does whatever he is told. He actually said that he thought he could find a way around the geneva convention. Those words would come back to haunt him in spades if he accepted the nomination.
As bad as he may be I would rather see him as a attorney general then get him on the supreme court and maybe get another ashcroft in the AG's office. |
Ive been hearing that many republicans are actually opposed to Gonzalez being nominated because he is not conservative enough.
|
I hope it's Ashcroft.

I saw this just a minute ago ... O'Connor resigns and Gonzales may be nominated. Not good, not good.
|
As a "Moderate" he would be the lesser of two evils.
I could see worse. |
He is a Bush puppet so he'll do whatever Bush and Karl Rove say for 20 years.
