If you do any mailing, including OPT-IN -- READ THIS!
There is a new law going in effect tommorow, July 1st that effects anyone in the US doing mailing or anyone with a business presence in the US. (If you don't follow CAN SPAM then don't even bother reading this :1orglaugh )
Basically the law sets up a "Do not E-mail" registry for kids. If you mail prohibited content to anyone on the list you are going to jail/getting sued. This is what MarketingSherpa says qualifies: o Obvious stuff -- porn, gambling, pharmaceutical offers, phishing, Nigerian scams, alcohol, tobacco, etc. o Less obvious stuff -- financial services (credit card, banking, and mortgage offers), automotive marketing, dating and matchmaking services, etc. Read the whole thing over at MarketingSherpa |
this needs a bump

you a little off on the content, it says
" parents to add their children's email addresses and cell phone numbers to a list to keep them from getting spam of any kind" its best not to mail anyone on that list for any reason. I only want know where to get the lists |

You are correct "The laws did catch a lot of people in the industry flat-footed," Dobbs said. "The laws go into effect on July 1 and the states are actually mandated to have the registries working by that time. However, we're not aware that either state has published any information about how you would actually use the lists yet." From http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3516736 |
Yep. more proof that the parents do not have to govern their children on the internet.

If you haven't accepted the fact that you can go to jail at anytime for mailing from the United States by now you just won't get it.
