Scientology..Hubbard your thoughts.

I found some stuff on thesmokinggun website.

Pretty interesting, althought he sounds like a complete whackjob to me. What do you guys think, just happened to spot this today, and remembered all the scientology threads lately.

Scientology church is just a dangerous bunch, just as all the other sects. There's quite a few books written by ex-scientologists that are very interesting.

I agree and reading kBizzles story about how they tried to "induct" him into the Church, just seemed a bit bizarre as well. I remember a long time ago getting Dianetics because it was #1 and shit, but i couldn't get that far into the book.

I had also heard that the "church" of scientology will buy large amounts of the book Dianetics to keep it #1 on the Best Seller list , and then return them.

Not sure of the truth behind it, but nothing would surprise me thats for sure.

Its odd.... its hard for me to lump Cruise, Travolta and the others in with this nut job, but it seems that is the case. Ive always found both of them much more "stable" then the other Hollywood wack jobs that throw their opinions around. Actually, this seems to be the first time I have found Toms actions to be suspect. He seems or has seemed a great family man who trys to lead a pretty normal life outside of his movie career.

What seems to be the major draw it Scientology? I know little to nothing about it.

BTW Acidmax.... where are you in the Detroit area? Just moved to Bloomfield Hills myself from NY.

Thats a given, but not what I ask. What is the basis of the religion? Maybe thats a better question then what I ask above.

After reading about several different sects, they all have the same tactics.

How do they get you in?
They RARELY say where they are from, if they approach you (I'm not talking about door knockers). They first do it once they are pretty sure about you.
They give you 150% attention, only you exist for them, at that time.
The people that "reel you in" are constantly looking for your soft spot. Ask you questions that seems very innocent, but in the broad picture it's a part of finding the soft spots.
Once they've found enough soft spots, they tell you how they can make it all go away, improve you as a person and yadda yadda yadda.

To just mention a few things.

One of the things that I found weird, was that there are both strong and weak minded people getting caught by these sects. But after a while it wasn't that strange. If you are person searching for something, you are pretty much vulnerable.

A person that hasn't found themself or where they fit in the world.
Celeb that has everything or a celeb that has a hard time trusting people.
Someone that is just looking for a friend.
Someone that is tired of there every day life and want a change.
You name it...
