War of the Worlds----Just Saw It---Short Review---No Spoilers
 

Definitely worth seeing...........the beginning, the sequence with the aliens arrival, no spoiler here as that is obvious, was absolutely brilliant and in my mind, the best part of the movie, easily.

It had problems.......however, one of them was not the ending, in my book; for me, that was fine and plausible. Overall, however, it was a good movie, but not in the class of Batman Begins of Cinderella Man by any means.

Oh yeah..........had to add, since Independance Day was the same theme as WOTW, in comparing the two, ID4 was a silly movie compared to this one.........it was a real nightmarish type deal

was it the same as the book? (if you have read the book)

I can't wait to see it.

I haven't read the book but apparently the thread running throughout the story is the same as the book...........only the characters interrelationships are different (divorced parents, etc)

i'll share some inputs after i see it over the weekend.

Just for the alien's arrival, the show is most certainly worth it. Its nothing but terror and the bombastic music of John Williams just makes that sequence simply outstanding.

However, some have complained the meat of the story is thin on plot. This is true. The movie to sum up is one long nightmare. And for those complaining about the ending? If you think about it, its extremely plausible so I had no problem at all with the ending, which I will not give away, of course.

So, no, you can't go wrong seeing this movie. Will you maybe want to see it again? I think most ppl. will not go to this one twice.

very similar..........but ID4 was child's play, and rather silly in looking back on it, compared to this one.

Agreed! but this is more or less the same story told in a slightly more sophisticated way! and without that sense of vindication at the end! (We didn't really exact our revenge)

how about the alien's arrival, UPP? that was really outstanding. i hope the bombasitc music being played during it makes the soundtrack. that was easily the best part of WOTW.

No plot, dull ending, but a lot of fun!

The biggest problem was this plot hole: (potential spoiler)

Aliens knock out all power. Cel phones don't even work.

But one guy is videotaping the invasion... a shot of camera's the video screen is featured.

I'm going to see it tomorrow night.
