not everyone has time (or wants to) spell check their posts, so i would say the anal guy whos correcting the spelling.

Pointing out spelling mistakes is the tactic of someone who is getting a verbal ass beating.

A lot of people take short cuts when typing on chat boards, as some of them have other things that they are working on.

That is why people still use BRB. And doing that can make you really screw up spelling sometimes.

Unless the person is being an asshole, its annoying when someone posts about a misspelled word on a thread.

Actually, that wouldn't always be the case. Get one verbally abusive, insulting, mean asshole on your case, who can't argue worth shit but only uses insults as a weapon, what do you do? Sink to the same level or emphasize his stupidity by pointing to his spelling mistakes, despite English being his native language? Of course, you could also use the ignore function. Thank God for that one.

There should be an option for the person that points out a word is misspelled but misspells another one in the process.

hey what about if it's a typographical error.. not everyone has keen eyesight nor the time to proofread a post he/she is about to make.. my gosh i didn't know spelling is such a big deal here in gfy... better check from now on.. i often commit typographical errors..hehehe...
