comcast's upload speed is restricted to 30kb/s that sucks
is there anything I can do to make it go faster? does anyone have any tips or do i have to call comcast and pay more money to get faster upload speeds?
|
yes that does suck, optimum online is capped at around 100kb/sec up
unlimited down comcast sucks donkey dick maybe you can get a dual cable line or something of that sort i know they use to offer such packages |
there was a time it was actually at 60-90kb/s until they capped my ass.. i even called them and told them i need my shit uncapped for business purposes but no luck .. comcast sucks
|
yeah, WOW's upstream is about 35KB/s my downlaod is like 5-6 mbit though
|
Get the pro service, $95 a month static ip's and i get 768k upload ( i usually get more) and 6 megs down

Just pay for the business service.

I have a 'broadband' satellite because there's no real broadband in my area and the bastards cap my bandwidth down to NOTHING after I have 22 TCP connections open :Oh crap I'm talking 0.08kb/sec upstream!
I have a second house I am getting cable at on Saturday. I can't take this anymore  |
I use comcast. Not sure what plan I'm on. Just tested my upload. 308 Kbps.
|
cable companies love to give u shitty upload
|
Comcasts business service has been very good to us, since were in a industrial building and not many people use it in the building we get blazing speeds. I guess it also helps that our hosting company is in the same Datacenter that comcasts infrastructure is in.

Well, there is a specific reason for that. Cable shares the line with your surrounding neighbors so if some dickweed runs a server or something then everyone is slow....with all the P2P stuff going on its especially important...
...For those that want good downstream AND upstream....DSL is the only way to go for the home user. Right now Qwest DSL in Seattle is offering 5Mbps upstream and downstream for 50 bucks a month. So thats about 400KBps up and down |
ONe of the tradeoffs between cable and DSL. Sure cable is faster on the download side. But when it comes to uploads ive almost always gotten the stated 200-300 K. On cable I never got above 100 and hardly ever got that..... Usually between 50 and 75 K. Ill take my DSL. Mainly cause its the only broadband here other than satelite.
|
bleh, i have comcast, my upload is 128kbps. they raised that for me when they raised my download speed.

Thank you for all the information in this thread. Looks like I will have to weigh my options carefully and of course spend more money.

Comcast cable is ok. I am waiting on Verizon FIOS, there getting setup now in other parts of portland.
15 meg down and 2 meg up for $49.00 per month :) We have cable at home and in our warehouse. home, 6/384 $62.00 (no cable tv, dish) Work, biz rates, 7/512, 160.00 per month. Pretty dang solid |
DSL sucks donkey balls.
|
I run 2 bonded DSL which gives me about 2mbit going out and about 6-8mbit (depending in line sync speeds) coming in. I'm probably going to pick up a few more DSL lines and bond those as well
|
i love uploading at 160KB/sec! :)
