Anyone have OCD?

or know someone who has?

What has your/their experience been? What was the obsession? How was/is it controlled?

Antonio 06-29-2005 03:23 AM

i think i may have OCDP which is slightly different, but one of my buddies girlfriends has OCD very badly about food. certain types of food are absolutely NOT allowed to touch other types of food, and in some cases need to be on seperate plates. she has just gradually been trying to get over it. it's a long process of trying new things and forcing yourself to relax, but she is doing quite well.

I had a neighbor once who suffered from OCD...I don't think he knew it, but oh man was he compulsive. He would clean his house obsessively...we're talking 24/7 with this guy...when his wife was out of town he would move funiture and shit. I saw him on several ocations washing his car at 2am, even though the car was spotless. He would wash down the sidewalks and the list goes on and on...He had a son that a age two was still drinking from a bottle so he wouldn't spill on the floor...Also I'm pretty sure he shaved all his body hair altough I have no proof and I never asked LOL

Actually my experience with SSRI-type drugs has been nothing short of great. FAAAAAR from anything zombie-ish. Just elevated mood and overall sense of well-being.

Mild OCD. Mainly food and germs. Using a paper towel to touch the handle to open the inside doors of a public toilet to get out, that kind of thing. Nothing too crazy though. Nothing worth medicating. No hardcore shit you see in movies or on tv and all the rituals and toe tapping etc.

i don't think that there is anything those cheap chemicals can do, that the human mind cannot, with proper focus.
