Try to stay away from Pinnacle Studio 9, I've never had more bugs in a piece of software than I had while using it. Try Sony's Vegas also, it's great stuff.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 06-28-2005 04:33 PM

Mac = Final Cut Pro with Cleaner 6.

PC = Premiere or FCP.

Why you guys talking about Premiere 6? That was three versions and a few years ago! Premiere Pro 1.5 is the latest and I like it very much. If you are a pc guy teh best is either that or Vegas if you prefer, or the latest Final Cut Pro for the Mac people.

newbreed 06-28-2005 09:11 PM

Sony Vegas

khs 06-28-2005 09:13 PM

You got that right. I have been having serious trouble with it.

For simple tasks like that Pinnacle will do. $99

Does no-one use Avid? http://www.avid.com This is the most powerfull software going.

Relish XXX 06-28-2005 09:38 PM

We run http://www.avidstore.com/uk/index.cf...roductid=58049
to make DVDs then we use Premier for any web based stuff.

dready 06-28-2005 09:42 PM

I'd say Avid or Premiere for Editing, and Canopus Procoder hands down to convert between formats.

Thank fuck someone uses Avid! I thought it was one of the industry leaders untill I started doing porn online and found out most people use Premier! Althought I suppose most people on this board arent making DVDs and are merely converting file formats and editing for free hosted galleries and tour samples.

I don't think that's the case. There's a lot of real editing goin on here.

My favorites are:

PC: Vegas Video (much better faster and easier than premiere)

Mac: Final Cut

I use Cleaner for both systems

Final Cut is definitely the better program.

Unless you are making full movies or TV shows I would say Avid is unecessary now a days. Good video production is all about clean edits and transistions with well timed to correlating sound effects, dialogue or music. Anything else is just gravy. All of the software in this thread can do that effectively.

Shoehorn! 06-28-2005 11:32 PM

Final Cut Pro. :thumbsup

Ace_luffy 06-28-2005 11:34 PM

Adobe Premier....

I doubt many people are actually looking at releasing their content in the DVD, satelite or pay per view (hotels) market though.

Barefootsies 06-28-2005 11:36 PM

Start with Adobe Premier 6.0. Nice newbie program to learn on, and you can do more advanced stuff as you get better. Then bump to Premier 1.5.

It's more stable, and has some extra goodies to play with. I actually use both depending on what I am working with. I've tried other shit over the years, but since using Premiere I'd never go back.

:thumbsup

ProjectNaked 06-28-2005 11:47 PM

I use Premiere Pro for serious stuff with Cleaner XL to encode

- Premiere 6.5 for simple quick stuff like next day demos -
