Have you ever actually READ the Patriot Act?!? We Americans lose rights all the time. Nobody cares unless it directly affects them. Well, when only 5-10% of the population gets screwed over at any given time (at most), there isn't enough opposition to prevent negative changes or to lobby for positive changes.
