since I have 50 words to use here, I will waste a few of them before getting to my point....

Hire a lawyer

(23 words used to explain 2257, only 3 of them are important... you decide which 3)

the "hire a lawyer" line is kinda lame.

chapecito 06-28-2005 12:17 PM

even living where i live? I guess most lawyers here have no clue what 2257 is

Have a good read across the boards and you will get a pretty good clue.

Okay, let's try this. I've been shooting Video from, contests, Spring break, Solo Girl, Girl/Girl, and Blowjobs, since the month before this law took effect. I've lectured countless friends who wanted to try the biz. I've been to Seminars, where former DOJ Prosecuters gave speeches, and they invited me to be a guest speaker as an example of somebody in the business who had a clue.

That was as of last week.

As of this week I am as fucking clueless as anybody, and everybody else is.

These guys are giving you good advice, consult with an attorney, and it wouldn't hurt to talk to an old gypsy woman with a crystal ball if you can find one.

2257 is a US law.
You live in the U.S and there are lawyers who know what the regulations mean and how they effect you.

chapecito 06-28-2005 12:44 PM

so i shoulndt worry about it? im 10.000km away from US soil

Ahh fuck, you have didnt read Article 2.0C line 47 did you?

You have to be at least 10.500km away from U.S soil
Sorry.

If the DOJ didn't try and bury so many screwed up stipulations in the new one, it would be cut and dry. But I have seen and heard several different opinions from people seeking legal advice from their lawers.

Even the lawers see the law differently from one to the next. Who's to say your lawer will be right?

chapecito 06-28-2005 01:25 PM

hehe the funny thing is that after 14 posts.. nobady even tried to explain what the hell is 2257 in 50 words...

UnclePecker 06-28-2005 01:59 PM

Ok here is what I'm doing. May be right, may be wrong...And I can't say it in 50 words...

I am only a secondary producer under the law. I do not shoot content. I only
buy content sets and build web sites.

I first buy a content set and the set must come with a scan of the photo ID's
of every performer in the set. ( I'm not sure if I need scans of the model releases or not really, but I like to get those to, comments?).

I then create a link on my main page(index.html) of the web site where the
content will be shown.
The link reads: "18 U.S.C. 2257 Record-Keeping Requirements Compliance Statement."

Link this to a page containing the primary producer and yourself as the secondary producer. You need to list your place of buisness on this page
even if its your home.

I bought a cheap 2nd computer and will stick it in a unused room of my house
Nothing will be on this computer except my 2257 records.

I made a folder named 2257 Records.
Under this I make sub folders named as follows:
"lastname,firstname - name of website"
where names are the perfromers names and website is where on the web
they appear.
I put all the photos of the perticular set under these folders.
I also put the Photo ID of each performer in the appropreiate folder.
I also create a text file in each folder named "associated URLs" which list
all urls the content appears on.

I also create a txt file named "primary producer" and list who I bought the
content from.

So if a inspector knocks on my door, i'll lead him to the unused room containing my records computer and let him have at it.

I hope this will do it. If I try to understand all the clerical parts of the new
2257 I go insane. My basic idea is to be as organized as possible so the
inspector can find whatever he might be looking for.
If they throw me in jail because the size of my font is incorrect or one of
my records is out of alphbetical order then I guess I'm screwed.

Feel free to point out any mistakes I'm making...I could use the advice..

Good Luck
