You have to assume that they receive ICQ spam or other random messages. Include your board nick, which board (or whatever) you know the person from, and the reason you're trying to reach them. I get a lot of messages every day from people I don't know, and I don't have time to even ask them all who they are (and I don't want to risk getting spammed even more by letting them know I read their messages).

I don't want to miss valuable contacts but if I have no idea who you are or why you're requesting to add me to your contact list, I won't answer.

Seems you dont care about your biz. I always ICQ people with a greeting first and then when they answer back do i start explaining my motive.

when someone says hello, i say hello too, but if someone only adds me then i dont do anything, unless it's someone who seems known and established

I get hundreds of authorization requests every day from people I don't know. I DON"T have hours to spend answering lonely russian girls (although I'd love to!)

Even if you got 100 ICQs from 100 different people each day, which i call B.S on.
And they all started with a simple greeting.
It would take you no more than 5 mintures to reply to each one.

Marina works for sexsearch, she probably saw you have a LoveDollars banner in your sig and wanted you to change some links ;-)

You got me. It's probably more like 30 requests most days.
I have a problem cutting people off when they want to talk. I admit it. So yes, for me, it would take up hours.

Maybe cuz I'm a girl and I get smacked with dumbasses hitting me up to chat all day, but I understand where he's coming from. My profile specifically said "BIZ CONTACT ONLY" and specifically said requests for chatting without a biz purpose would be ignored and still, I was constantly interrupted. Now I just ignore people I don't know, unless they tell me who they are and what they need to discuss right off the bat. So, I try to have that respect for other people. Our time is valuable-time is money, and I don't want to waste someone else's when I know how annoying it is to have my own wasted.

Occasionally I reject auth request with reason 'Who? Why?'
I don't even get messages from people not on my list.

I just set icq to only allow people in my list to chat with me, when i get requests to add to my list 99.9% of the time it is obviosly spam and I ignore the fuckers.
That probably doesn't help you figure out how to spam me, but it makes me life easy.

I have been getting tons of requests to get on my list, a lot of people sure do have balls to request to get on acting like they know you. Then they spam you.

I get a few a day and it may be benificial to me to spend 2 seconds and type in "Hello"

Just my thoughts.

I get contacted all the time with "hello".

Here's how it usually goes:

User: Hello
Me: Hi, how can I help you?
User: I want to buy some traffic
Me: Ok, Thank you. I can set you up right now, I see you've just paid.

I get 50+ auth requests from 'tatiana' and 'svetlana' every fucking day.
My ignore list is full, which sucks.

If someone doesn't bother to tell me why they want to contact me, they won't at all. Simple as that. There's a reason why I use authorization.

They say something along the lines of
"I saw your profile and I just want to chat"..
