Peaches 06-28-2005 05:27 AM

I would. Why should having money or not having money have anything to do with wanting to do stuff you enjoy??!!

pradaboy 06-28-2005 05:32 AM

Haha I thought the same thing... you're a billionaire and then you fuck everything up by flying a prototype plane? Damn he must be stupid!

The guy is like 59 years old, pretty sure he lived his life pretty full. He died what he enjoyed doing most. :winkwink:

BRISK 06-28-2005 05:38 AM

I'd rather die doing something I loved than remain safely in my house doing nothing for fear that I might die and lose my precious $20 billion.

Life is for living.

There's a good argument to be made that increased trade partnerships among nations greatly decreases the chance of war between those nations.

Did it ever occoured you that maybe that was his hobby or something he liked doing...

Some of you people seem to be pretty quick on bashing people just because they have x or y

Why are you blaming the companies? It's the consumers that buy the products. For every thing you buy made in other countries, you can buy something that was made in the US (well, maybe not Kimonos, chopstix, etc :winkwink: ) but the CONSUMERS want the cheap crap. If AMERICANS weren't buying from or working at Walmart, they would go out of business :)

Exactly, rigth on the money :thumbsup

The weather looks shitty in that pic, [lots of currents etc could take such a small craft out in a hurry] or perhaps a build or maintenance error.

cool1 06-28-2005 05:58 AM

He died doing what he liked to do to have fun.
The money he was worth means nothing, (unless of course you have no money then it means a lot).

Any company that supports china and their slave labor working conditions, underage sweatshops, should be hung for treason.

But it's OK for the American consumers to support them with no repercussions. :thumbsup

Kristian 06-28-2005 06:08 AM

Reminds me of Howard Hughs

marketsmart 06-28-2005 06:08 AM

"Rocky Mountain High" "Thank God I'm a Country Boy"

BTW, "ultralight" can mean any aircraft (metal, composite, etc.) below a certain weight and not just those kites with engines.

FilthyRob 06-28-2005 06:11 AM

That sucks!

Obviously not many have since they are the most successful department store in the country. When consumers are willing to pay more for things made in the US, only then will you see stores like Walmart start only buying US made goods or closing. You can't be as successful as Walmart is w/o the support of consumers.

Trax 06-28-2005 06:21 AM

When you question it .. think about it first

One can hate the rich and whine about jobs being lost blah blah blah ..

" I also noted to Mr. Smith that Wal-Mart, all by itself, was responsible for a significant amount of the U.S. productivity miracle over the last decade. In a 2001 report, the McKinsey Global Institute, a respected think tank, concluded Wal-Mart's managerial innovations increased overall productivity by more than all the investments in computers and information technology of recent years.

Wal-Mart's innovations include large-scale (big box) stores, economies of scale in warehouse logistics and purchasing, electronic data interchange, and wireless bar code scanning. These gave Wal-Mart a 48 percent productivity advantage over its competitors, forcing those firms to innovate as well, thereby pushing up their productivity. The McKinsey study found productivity improvements in wholesale and retail trade alone accounted for more than half of the increased national productivity between 1995 and 1999.

A new study from the prestigious National Bureau of Economic Research found Wal-Mart has a substantial effect on reducing inflation. For example, it typically sells food for 15 percent to 25 percent less than competing supermarkets. Interestingly, this effect is not captured in official government data. Fully accounting for it would reduce the published inflation rate by as much as 0.42 percentage points or 15 percent yearly."

A distorted lens on Wal-Mart

Quit yer whinin', GFY :321GFY and go buy some cheap beer.

Atleast he went out on top ;)

i was at the zoning office yesterday (where i live) and Walmart is building a business complex. This has taken 2 years and 2 new contractors just to get the permits approved. On that note, Walmart is doing something right to build a business park.

On the bad side, they just imminent domained (or I should say the local officials) 2 trailer parks in the area to build this complex. At first, they were going to move these residents to a new area. Now, the residents there have to find a new place to live.

Granted, these trailer parks (off of 72) are an eye sore, I kinda feel bad for them cause this is a place they call home.

However, in the end it's a DOG EAT DOG world.

AcidMax 06-28-2005 06:37 AM

The weird thing is that there was an ultralight crash in our county yesterday here in Michigan as well. Person survived this one though. Rough day for ultralights I guess.
