It's only "Upconverting" to 1080i. But still, it's the best you can get today.

My modded XBox does that too... upconverts to 1080i. Does seem to look a little sharper than a regular progressive scan DVD player, although I guess I could just be imagining it.

This unit is a great bargain. The only issue is that it has no HD recording ability which is a must for me. As soon as they produce an upsampling recorder I'll run to buy it.

id wait until blue ray or hd-dvd. i think blue ray will win due to its large capacity and mainly the PS3.

Actually I'm really waiting for 1080p instead of interlaced. When they come out with a prosumer HD camera that does 1080p then I'll finally bite. Till then I'm sticking with my VX2100.
