Hi all,

Just got back from conference and have to make you aware of www.passwordbyphone.com - great new billing product - geo-targeted -
calls to action (to pay) in 35 different languages. This is NOT a dialler - rather, a much better alternative - surfers call to get PIN number which gives them 30 mins access to your site(s)

I have known these people for over ten years - they are Swiss, reliable and pay on time twice a month - no fees!

Not bad for those first few countries, but I'd want a way to block all those 50 cent and $1 countries!

Damn nice deal. I like it.

You can block countries that you don't want to bill from. But how else are you going to make money from surfers in, say, Argentina?

you are telling me that you have a rev share deal with all telcos on adult. Sorry but that won't fly. The bad-debt risk is far too high for telco's to agree on a rev.share on adult billing.

Are you not familiar with IPRS? In those markets - like China - that do not have a domestic premium rate infastructure, the surfer is invited to dial an
overseas number. PbP has revshare agreements in place with the TERMINATING country, ie the country to which the call is made. And since this is not data traffic, the telcos do not block as they did with diallers!

Let's shine a light on this construction for the others. We now know that the chinees surfer has to dial a 'diego carcia' number and will be charged through his own telco (wich is (still) government owened and controlled). So the guy that has set up the diego carcia route (iprs ltd. I asume) has a LEC billing agreement with the chinese telco. Meaning that the international call that the Chinese surfer made will show up on the invoice he gets from the chinese telco. After the chinese telco has collected the money, it will pay lets say 75% of that amount to the guy with the route (iprs). I don't think iprs has told the chinese telco that they are actually billing for porn access. If the chinese telco figures that one out, the number will be blocked instantly and they will hold all funds.
What i'm saying is, that having an agreement with the terminating country (e.g. diego carcia) won't secure outpayments.

Sneezy is correct - the originating carrier will block telco routes associated with porn - doesnt matter if it is data or voice traffic. Its not like the Chinese gov't allows int'l phone sex over it's network

It may happen, even though it should be hard to find any connection between adult offers and the password you get while you do the phone call.

This business is unstable like that but why not make some good money while it's possible?
