Oh boy I'm so happy to get a ...........Hot water heater, very exciting huh? LOL

If you ever had one crap out on you then you'll understand. Thank goodness it went as I was washing the dishes and not in the shower.

You know, if your water heater craps out while you're in the shower, the water doesn't isntantly go cold on you. The water that's still in the tank stays hot for quite a while before cooling off completely.

but I can relate to what you're saying. I had to go without a water heater for one day several years back. Just one day and it was quite the inconvenience..... even moreso because I have tenants. That feeling of relief when the new tank is installed and working is..... great.

FilthyRob 06-27-2005 08:37 AM

I had mine go out in a rental house one time in the dead of winter. Now granted, I am in California, but some winters are pretty cold here.

In any event our slum lord kept us without hot water for like a week. It sucked to go over to my moms to shower, but I wasn't even gonna hit that cold water.

Digibucks 06-27-2005 08:42 AM

that's sweet....why not post a pic while using the heater ?

Peaches 06-27-2005 08:45 AM

Argh! I had one go out on me on a Friday night before Memorial Day. I couldn't get anyone out to replace it until Tuesday. You really miss something that simple when it's gone. Congrats :)

It went out on Saturday and the landlord came and fixed it but it went back out lastnight about 8ish so I called and he said I'll be getting a new one today.

Water heaters are something that's easy to take for granted.

Cant see why he is changing a water heater that is not leaking, how much do he charge for replacement versus his previous reparation? :disgust

TurboAngel 06-27-2005 09:14 AM

No hun I don't get charged the landlord does it, he said it was time for a new one so a new one we'll get. I'm glad that we reant and don't have to pay for thing's like this.

:)

poisson 06-27-2005 09:16 AM

OH great then :)

Actually, depending on what goes wrong, that may or may not be true.

My last water heater that went out was due to the bottom of it rusting away . . . and water does not really stay in too well (warm or cold) with no bottom.

MandyBlake 06-27-2005 10:03 AM

yay! congrats!
when our's craps out, we're going to get a tankless one.

TurboAngel 06-27-2005 03:24 PM

Well It's going in now! Woot Hoot I can do some dishes.

:upsidedow

LexiLexxx 06-27-2005 03:50 PM

One night, around 4 am ...mine freaking blew up and threw metal and water everywhere, I rushed to find the water shut off valve!

Not so nice to wake up to :-(

Well, yes... a leak would be the exception. But usually it is the heating unit that dies, and when that happens the water is still hot for several hours.
