People from Belgium
Firstly, let me say once again what a beautiful and friendly country you have. I got back yesterday from my sixth or so stay in your lovely country. Secondly, I am interested in either renting a flat for a longer holiday at some point or possibly down the line looking at buying a flat or holiday home in the country. I would preffer a Flemmish area simply because I know a bit of German and it is easier to figure out the language but the French area is lovely too. However, I have no idea of which areas are cheaper to live, etc. Does anyone have any suggestion of what parts of the country might have less expensive realeastate than the others, etc?

Hey,
I have a house for sale in Holland, it's only two hours from Belgium as well as one hour from Germany! It's located near Amsterdam, you will love it there!! |
Personally I would take a flat in Holland before I'd take one in Belgium.
But since you're asking, the area that you might like best could be Liege. |

I have been to Gent, Brussels, Brugges and Ostende each a number of times. I would love just to rent somewhere for a week or month but down the line i wouldn't rule out a holiday home. I Just like the feel of the country as a whole. |

Nice furnished appartments on the cost in nice places like De Haan are rather expensive, but you can get lucky. Next time you are on the coast, I would drive to some of the smaller places like De Haan and look around at the local realtors, they always have summer stuff there. De Haan is full of germans usually though, as is Knokke, the town next to it. You should be able to find stuff in most areas, I would really just look around when you are there, since its going to be easier to find furnished ones that way. If I would want a holiday place somewhere in belgium to rent, I would go to De Haan for the coast, Brugges for general flair/relaxing, Brussels for some more stuff to see. Fabian |
