SATA Ultra series hard drive question

I just went out and purchased a new hard drive and did not realise I grabbed a serial ata drive. I do not have a serial ata motherboard or card....can I still use the hard drive. Is it backwords compatible?

I do not care about the extra speed but want to know if I can use the drive via regular ata style.

Thanks

So no chance of using it as a regular ata drive?

I will go buy a card if I need to but I wanted to rip into it the plastic and pplug it in and try.

Will it fry my computer if I try?

it isnt going to work if you try it without a controller card

They are 2 completely different connections. If they are the same connection you just bought a 133 ATA instead of a 100 ATA which will work fine. So if the connection is the same it will work.
