Do recipes carry a copyright?
if its for something generic like "hamburgers" or "gyros"?
coz i just got these recipes that im dying to put up (and milk adsense from) |
Good question, I am curious..
|
I think most recipes are more than just a listing of ingredients. And how would the cooking instructions be any different from say a book?
However, generic food like hamburgers or gyros usually don't require a page long descriptive story on how to prepare it. I'd think it's hard to put a copyright on something like a generic hamburger recipe. |
i guess the "how its cooked" part would be the copyrighted important part then.. hmm
|
I think only of the name of the dish is trademarked or the recipes appeared in published print (like a Julia Childs book).
|
I am not sure. But for hamburgers, I guess that doen't really need any copyright man..
|
copyright? i don't think so... but for restaurants they always have a secret ingeredient...

I think some are, but mine aren't. :) Seems as though you and I have the same idea.

i believe so. i remember once seeing a saved by the bell episode where they stole a spaghetti sauce recipe and got slapped with a big lawsuit.

I'm a recipe fiend. I love to cook, and if there's one I don't have, I'm all about it. :) |
