How you got your startup funds.

Was reading some posts about how some people spent between $30k and $70k+ to start their first paysite. Was just wondering where you got your first wad of cash to start them came from? Other ventures, loan, partnerships? Trying to start my own and realizing how little money I actually have, lol. So far I've spent about $1500 (very little I know) and am just starting to look into exclusive content.

I started in this biz with $200.

All of the money I've spent on projects in this biz is from money I've made in this biz.

You shouldn't be looking at a paysite as your first project, you don't know nearly enough about this business to get into paysites if you're just starting.

Start out small and send traffic to other people's paysites....then as your bankroll grows you invest in new and bigger projects to expand your skill set.
There's ALOT more to this than you probably think there is.

I started in the adult online biz with a copy of Dreamweaver & Photoshop (bootleg), a $9.99 domain, and a $9.99 hosting account. Build an interesting free site as your base.

Ya, I'm begining to realize that. I got a pretty good domain for a TGP type site I'm working on at the same time. Gonna try building that into something to help me get up the money, and so I can drive traffic to mine when/if it happens.

I funded my adult businesses by selling fixed cable boxes years ago

I started with $14,000 and it was provided by angel investments from the university I attended over the course of my 3rd year of university.

continued working day jobs for the first year and only used the money to put it back into the site.

polish_aristocrat 06-26-2005 10:03 AM

simple answer - don't start with a paysite

Wiggles 06-26-2005 10:03 AM

I spent $9 on domain to startup, i don't make 30k but i make enough to help pay bills, easy to start in this business with very little money, use what you make profit to cover expenses and the rest to expand for awhile.

Ya, I think the paysite is going back burner while I work on a free site promoting some programs and hopefully that will put at least enough in my pocket to get started in something.
