bloodthirsty 11-foot shark viciously tore off her leg

'Jaws' horror kills girl
New York Daily News - 1 hour ago
By JONATHAN LEMIRE. A 14-year-old girl paddling on a Boogie board met a gruesome end yesterday when a bloodthirsty 11-foot shark viciously tore off her leg in waters off a crowded Florida beach

^

is this guy looking to have all sharks killed, or make her parents cry, or get rubbed out by the florida tourism dept?

Manowar 06-26-2005 02:26 AM

Nice way to put it

pr0 06-26-2005 02:28 AM

Schwick 06-26-2005 12:04 PM

I saw a story about the guy that takes pics of Great Whites jumping out of the air. He baits the things by towing a boggie board behind a boat that is cut out to look like a seal from the bottom.

In our lifetimes (assuming you're age 35 or less and will live another 40 - 50 years) we'll see the complete extinction of several of the larger "sport" sharks for sure. It's not even a question. Sharks like the Great White will be dwindle away to nothing...

People sometimes think "good" when they hear that, but the effects are already being seen as the seal population has exploded the past 10 years, which means seals are over-consuming thier own primary food, fish, at an alarming rate, which is throwing off the entire food chain.

I dont think that we will see the end of the bigger sharks. There is a lot of work in the shark repellant , and it seems to be working.

It has nothing to do with that. It has everything to do with sport fishing the Great White, which is currently illegal off the coasts of Australia and South Africa, and offers the "ultimate hunt" to clients looking to pursue it.

Marine Biologists estimate that the Great White's population numbers have been reduced by 75 to 80% versus just 25 years ago, with the primary reason for the decline attributed to over fishing.

ouch :Oh crap

Why 06-26-2005 02:36 PM

the news is completely over sensationalized.

CDSmith 06-26-2005 02:52 PM

The bigger sharks are having to migrate to the strangest places to avoid the shark hunters these days. They're being seen in some pretty unexpected spots...

I feel bad for the girl but it was just bad luck there had never been an attack there and might never happen again

Spunky 06-26-2005 07:29 PM

Poor kid..Florida is brutal for shark attacks..those bull sharks are pretty mean

hoxton 06-26-2005 07:34 PM

Shark attacks have got to be one of the biggest fears for everyone, thanks JAWS... Anyone know where most attacks happen? I think the top 3 are South Africa, West coast of Australia, and Florida....

I wonder if your knowledge of sharks and your handle are just a coincidence?
:winkwink:

Anyhow, I don't think killing off any species is good - who made us God?

VeriSexy 06-26-2005 09:20 PM

I agree and it sucks ass!! I am a "fan" (not the right word but whatever) of sharks and have been since I was little. I used to study about them and do all my reports on them in school and shit.. The declining numbers of sharks over the last few years is amazing. Stories like this one just make it worse since now there will be a handful of dumbasses who think the solution is to hunt and kill them all when they do not look ahead at all the effects it has.

I can't help but wonder what effect you think shark extinction would have? Seals taking over the world? Corn crops failing? Death to all infidels?
