Surfin Cali Waves Today...changed My Attitude...

Had to jump into some waves in Ventura County California and do some surfin on the Smashbucks 9 foot 7 inch long board...amazing weather and waves...perfect setting for a great attitude adjustment. This last few weeks have been a little stressful...

All better for now...

I suggest anyone if you can paddle out for some 'tasty waves" .....

:thumbsup

The waves in Lauderdale suck unless there is a hurricane. I have never been to Cali but I ever do go out there thats one of the first things I want to do.

kektex 06-25-2005 06:45 PM

I envy you...the waves down here in my country have been practically non-existent for a couple of months. I really need to paddle out soon...

Bummer. :(
Never good to see that.
However, the Red Tide is really cool at night because it lights up in electric blue colors. :thumbsup

Good to know.

I'm a diver, myself -- a Dive Master, actually -- :winkwink:

Surfing can be fun, but if you want to make it really exciting, hit the beached in Florida about 6 hours before a hurricane comes in.

That is so very cool, and you are so right about the ocean...i like to think of it many ways one being a "life force" :thumbsup

TheGoldenChild 06-25-2005 07:21 PM

I was out watching the bra's down here fighht each other over waves-
Way too crowded up at Swami's

Those waves were no scrotum slappers today boy- there was some real deal waves- but a lot of red tide.

In a few years you can visit Fla and hit the planned Ron Jon wave park in Orlando. 4-6 glass with 100 yard rides, at least thats what the press releases say. If they can get 3-4 and 50 yards I think they will sell out, all day, every day.

aico 06-25-2005 08:04 PM

Ever make it down toward Seal Beach or Huntington? Let me know.

pr0 06-25-2005 08:06 PM

Is surfing really more fun after you've smoked an entire bag of weed & hit your head on the surfboard a couple hundred times. Every surfer i've ever met talks like he's/she's slow

like doooooooooooooooood

and no i'm not making stereotypical comments based on hollywood surfing movies

having said that, i wish i was in good enough shape to do it

Rob 06-25-2005 08:19 PM

I've been surfing for 14 years and love every second of it! Although we don't have may impressive waves in Florida I still go out on a regular basis.

Mike, hurry up and get your ass to Costa Rica so I can come down there and rip it up with you! :thumbsup

My buddies down in Encinitas are Swami's regulars - they live 2 blocks from the waves there.

I grew up in Hawaii and love the ocean, however, when I moved to Japan and then Northern Kali, I pretty much gave it up since I didn't like having to deal with cold water, wet suits and such.

My summer job as a teenager was working for the Honolulu Dept. of Parks and Recreation at Hanauma Bay, one of the premier snorkeling locations on Oahu. How I wish that I had taken up scuba. I probably still should since I think I would be very well suited to it.

BTW, KB, I've been to the Flats in Cleveland - the water in the Ohio River has lots more crap in it then the ocean.

Finally...I enjoyed a glorious sunset tonight here in the Bay Area. Mother Nature at it's finest.

Peace,

I would say don't rub it in but we acutaly got a ground swell this week

chest high. Maybe once in awhile a head high set would roll though.

After this week it's Lake Atlantic

Being near water is always a good thing, being near great waves is spiritual!

Damm, I almost drove down to Ventura today...one of these days I really gotta pickup a long board & learn to surf...

:thumbsup

I'll take another day off from gfy and my attitude will improve...

colpanic 06-26-2005 12:06 PM

I was out in Oceanside this morning. Still red tide, so everything looks dirty as hell, but it was chest-head high! (too big for me, I suck).

You should have, and had some breakfast at Dukes on Seward, and then jumped out at the point for some shoulder high waves....

Also the sun is out and the temp is perrrrrfect. :thumbsup

Tala 06-26-2005 12:18 PM

Dammit, I wanna learn how to surf! I love boogie boarding, and I'm all of maybe 3 blocks from the Rosarito beach here in Mexico. I love watching the waves crest before they make landfall, it's gorgeous.

It's also about 50 degrees in the morning when the surf is best. ACK! I'd have to get a good wetsuit before attempting to freeze my curlies off.

Manowar 06-26-2005 12:20 PM
