Gallery Submitters Quit Being Assholes with 2257
 

Here's the deal. A few weeks ago gallery submitters were out here asking for big tgps to not ban them for dead galleries. That's Fine, no problem at all.

Now that June 23rd rolled around I'm seeing alot of dickheads redirecting the dead galleries to their sites or straight to pop-up hell tours. Well guess what? For all those redirecting on me Go Fuck Yourself! :321GFY Don't even think about submitting or asking us for a link trade. I can guarantee you'll be banned forever and I don't even want to hear about your little 2257 sob story. There are ways to handle the fact that you have to delete or change your galleries. So for all of you gallery submitters thinking about it, take your 2257 excuse and shove it up your ass.

My beef is that the majority of people in this industry are short term thinkers. They don't think about the consquences of their actions. This is a business not a game and anybody who doesn't treat this like a business is not worth my time or energy in dealing with. With the government knocking at our doors it's time for everybody to shape up and start taking things seriously. The high school drunken stupidity is over. This is business and I'm seeing alot of gallery submitters pissing away the little future they have with their bullshit redirect moves.

I just need a script upgrade or one that will reject all submissions with out a viable link.I can't possibly review 1000 a day and weeding noncompliance galleries would help

Tell me about it. My archives are a nightmare. There were only a handful of submitters that went about this the right way.

whats the correct way in your opinion to shitcan old galleries? global 404s seem to be getting most of this traffic. should submitters make custom ones per gallery? just remove imgs? replace imgs with blanks? any ideas?

There are definitely a few ways. I think most tgps understand galleries need to be changed. What's important to remember is that messing with the traffic and pissing it off is the worst thing to do.
Sending it to a free site steals from the tgp.
Sending to a tour upsets the surfer.

I think there are 2 main options.
1 replace the gallery with another gallery of a similar niche which you have the legal rights to use. You make money and the tgp is happy and the surfers are happy.

2. is a straight 404. you lose nothing. The tgp just has a dead gallery. And the surfer isn't tricked or screwed.

Most other options trick the surfer or steal from the tgp. If you are doing that you are looking for trouble.

That is why I have no trouble moving to 100% paid submissions. No offence but anybody too cheap to pay for a submission pass is not going to be getting listed on my sites. You've got alot more to lose when you pay :2 cents:

option 1 isnt an option because when the surfer clicks on a desc or thumb of kates playground and gets teenkelly they wont be happy even if the ninche is simular. the description wont fit the gallery anyways, so i dont see the point. option 2 is quite difficult when you either lose the 404 traffic to your entire domain or make a custom 404 msg for each and every deleted gallerys subfolder. option 3, which i chose, was to replace each img and thumb with a solid blank, then made a list of each gallery changed and emailed the tgp owner to be removed. everyones happy and no one feels cheated.

What did you expect? tons of fucking losers and cheaters, for every good submitter, there are 50 bad ones, few long term thinkers, just quick buck bullshit, I quit taking submissions a year ago..

I agree 100%. The interesting thing is all these submitters are guys that have been submitting to us for the past 4 years. We haven't had new submitters in at least 3 years. It's sad that they have to go this route.

im sure it wasnt intentional to steal your traffic, atleast for many of them.

I can't see myself ever going this route as I feel it would only limit the quality of submissions overall plus I like to give everyone a chance. But it does amaze me how little respect some submitters have. I've been listing their galleries for nearly two years sending them traffic and they can't even send me a simple e-mail to let me know what is going on.

yep it hurts the good submitters also. Ban the fuckers and accept more galleries from the honest ones.

That's pretty fucked up....maybe they're getting out of the biz altogether and figure they'll make a few bucks on the way out.

It sucks though.

We're killing off entire domains so there will be nothing there...just dead links.
On other domains we're keeping the domain live but deleting files....for those we've got a custom 404 page that says "sorry file was removed" and that's it.

Shap... I've been submitting to you and others for several years now. All my galleries have been removed and they should be receiving a server generic 404 error page.

but yeah.. I didn't really suffer, cause I just got into this business two months ago... best solution I saw was to replace the page with a page explaining why it was taken down, 2257, and then recommending they push the 'back button' to return to the tgp..
as for paid submissions.. meh, it dissuades newbies from getting in the biz..
after 3 or 4 months, I MIGHT buy a submission pass... but I prefer to try my luck with the free partners :(

i pulled down all my galleries - and there were a LOT of them. all the surfer sees when he gets there is file not found.

why? because it seems to me that the tgps send us traffic because our galleries are basically their content. if we aren't supplying their content, we don't get to use their traffic - it's providing the galleries that is payment for the traffic. if we don't pay, it isn't ours to use.

just my opinion...

i switched all mine to FHG's so the surfer still gets the content, tgps dont get 404's, and i still get the sales. takes about 10-15 mins per gallery but well worth it.

except that most tgps don't allow fhg's. i feel i would be risking my partner accounts and blacklisting by doing that :(

That's a crock. Tgp owners don't give a fuck about submitters. Half of them delete sites, and never let you know. Free traffic for them from the recip.

I love the way that they act like they are sooooo honest and would never do anything to fuck someone over.

that's not a crock. the point is that i'm an honest person, and i won't change how i do business based on the ethics of the person i do business with.

if you steal because you feel the person you do business with is a thief, it still makes you a thief. imo same thing applies to business, big or small.

The pages i removed and took off all go to a page explaining why i removed them like most tgp owners asked me to do :)
