Some advice to all on 18 USC 2257

The days of the wild west in adult internet are over. If you have any nexus with the US; citizenship, web hosting, billing, banking, business etc you need to follow the guidelines in 18 USC 2257 as they are finally interpreted by the courts.

If you do not want to follow the law take the risk or close your business and stop whining.

Regarding the FSC and the deal with DOJ. It is appropriate that the agreement to delay inspections applies only to the plaintiffs in the lawsuit. This is normal procedure and is unremarkable.

All this means is FSC members and other plaintiffs have a little more time to get their records in order. The law still applies to them as well as anyone else, only inspections have been delayed.

Unless a permanent injunction is issued and is very broad, these rules apply to everyone effect June 23 2005. If you need more time to get your act together join the FSC, if you have your act together and feel you are in compliance now make a donation anyhow. I am sure the FSC will need every penny they can collect to cover the legal expenses and if they prevail everyone will win.

Gee, thanks Dad.....
But ah.....gee...there's just one thing.....

Actually the courts Have NOT "interpreted them" yet.
That's really the point, now isn't it?

But thank you, once again, for stating the obvious.

You are correct and unless you want to risk being the trout in the frying pan get your stuff ready for inspection.

I am yet to understand a few basic things that I could not find on FSC's site: Can foreign webmasters be members og FSC (I don't see why not) and more importantly, will it have the same effect as for the US-webmasters?

Can't wait to launch my new 2257 compliant program next week

I suggest you email them, I have no connection with the FSC.

Yeah I guess I'll have to do that, although they probably have their hands full at the moment.
