The way they measure "strength" is proportional, based on the size and weight of the animal.

Is your question what animal can "lift" the most weight?

If it is, I'm going to say CAMEL!

loverboy 06-24-2005 11:48 AM

The rhinoceros beetle can lift 850 times its own weight.

http://nationalzoo.si.edu/Animals/AnimalRecords/

You're probably wondering how a little ol' insect can be stronger than any of those big creatures. You have to compare what the insect can do for its size with what a big animal can do for its size. Turns out that the rhinoceros beetle can do a whole lot more.

Fred Quimby 06-24-2005 11:51 AM

ok,,in the worlds strongest man competition you don't have midgets lifting 4x their weight to become champ.

One scientist did an experiment with these beefy beetles. He discovered that a rhinoceros beetle could easily carry 30 times its weight on its back. The scientist said that would be like a grown man walking a mile (1.6 km) with a pickup truck on his head without getting tired!

isnt there a fish which can fire something like a stun gun or another that can close its mouth so quick that the pressure in the water rises and kills fish around. Not sure this is strength though
