Verotel Experience (In Canada)

I found their site, and it looks interesting for subscription sites.

Anyone with experience, good or bad, with them?

Especially in Canada.

Thanks

We're not in Canada (in Australia), but we've used Verotel now for over a year and been pleased with the results.

For us Verotel plays the role of a good secondary processor and a good solution for our European based customers. I'd highly suggest you go for the Verotal Pro account as their 'ticket' system (I think it's called) is just plain dumb. We only use them for processing so I can't comment on their affiliate program or the various other features they offer. We use their CC, EU Debit and eCheck processing and again had very few problems with people trying to purchase world wide.

If you'd like any more info feel free to hit me up on ICQ.

That's great. Thank you!

Verotel has been great for me. On-time payments, and better conversions that I got with other processors

Verotel is rock solid

I hate Verotel. Customer Service is waxk. ANYTIME you can't pick up a phone and talk about an issue with a Sales Rep. I think its bad. And to top it off, they minimum for trial memberships is 7 days compared to other processors being 3 or even 2days minimum. I had BAD communications problems with the Customer Service. One rep will tell you one thing while the next will tell you another... I didn't like their service at all... :ak47:

VEROTEL SUCKS!!!! FORGET CUSTOMER SERVICE. Yea you can call in, BUT the guy you end up speaking to, never knows wtf is going on because the actual department that handles what should be handled is never around or available.

My past experience?? When I first started ann-angel.com I used them. All was peachy and swell until suddenly one day I go in and see no sales. Only to find out my account was suspended. No notice, no fuck you, nothing. It took me going in to the site to see payments couldn't be processed.

I was hectic, trying to figure out wtf. Call them, email them, everything.....no reply. I went in to the forum and found a note that said everyone who links to or uses underage content is suspended. SO I start thinking.....underage?? WTF??? Anna??

More phone calls, the guy who picks up said exactly this....oh yea they closed everyones accounts and the review department won't be in until after th weekend!

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?????

I did more research to find that in my links section, of about 100 links or so, I had a link which linked to a top list which had a few banners that linked to some preteen modeling sites. VEROTEL PROMOTED PRETEEN SITES!!!!

Make a long story short, because they suspended my account they also held my payments for 2 weeks! So no processing for a whole day and every day after that, no checks for the past 2 weeks, and NO REPLY FROM ANYONE!! To this day I dont know what happened to my money for those 2 weeks. All they had to say was "hey, take that link down, visa is making us stop processing preteen sites" I would have removed the link which I didn't even know about at that time, because I didn't think twice about it.

Thank god that right before that happened I was already using CCbill as a secondary processor. I was able to switch out the next day totally.

DO NOT USE VEROTEL!!!!!! DO YOURSELF THAT FAVOR! GO WITH CCBILL!!!

directfiesta 06-23-2005 08:35 PM

Never used Verotel, but did use their other service: VERZA.

That was for hard goods processing. Wasn't bad, aside from sudden chargebacks that were denied been requested by the actual customer ...
I still would go with them today if needed.

BobG 06-23-2005 08:42 PM

Customer service is shot.

sonofsam 06-23-2005 08:43 PM

i was looking at them a long time ago too because, like yourself i'm in canada. You're much better off getting incorporated in the states through an incorporation company and getting set up with paycom/ccbill... icq me if you have any questions or need any help

SpeedoDave 06-23-2005 09:24 PM

I have to agree with the later posts on this - I've moved from Verotel to CCBill in the last month and CCBill are phenominally better. Verotel's customer server is shit house - I once had a tech problem on Friday night - they needed their head tech or something to look at it and told me to call back on Monday.

And the fuckers shut me down on some alleged (which I was never given a copy of) copyright complaint. I never saw the complaint and didn't have an option to reply and they are right now holding about 12K of mine for 6 months.

No option of reply.

I won't trust them ever again.

Ow - and that payment option where "If we can use your customers email address we drop the fee by 1%." That is way too weird for me - they have to be spamming customers.

CCBill rocks.

No need to do the US incorporation anymore really
Most of the US banks are not taking on any new applications because they are being fined so heavily from visa for going over their percentages.

If you decide to go with a merchant account feel free to hit me up, I can place people from any country at great rates (6.5-7.5% depending on specifics) and many times without incorporating and application costs!

I'm here to talk if you want .. hit me up :)

pornguy 06-23-2005 10:15 PM

We are in the US and had them for some time. But we got rid of them because they want us to pay 2 times for the visa reg.

jawanda 06-23-2005 10:22 PM

I've been using them for a few years and never had a problem.

BUT I still do get real nervous when I read all these horror stories ... always have a backup plan REGARDLESS of who you use.

Edit: By the way, their customer support has always been top-notch for me personally ... guess it just depends on the circumstance.

:2 cents:

Dailydiapers 06-23-2005 10:28 PM

Support has been fine for me too. I think this is because I always use Live Chat or Phone support, and most of the complaints seem to be from lazy punkss who just sent an email to handle their urgent concerns.

spooky181 06-23-2005 11:16 PM

Verotel has been super for us for more than 4 years. Their support is one thing that does let them down a bit my end but otherwise they are great. Reading Ann's post however does make one a bit nerveous, that they could just do that without any dialog is pretty poor form... :Oh crap
