i never got why people would get like 6 life sentences. i mean after you die once, thats it.

Bhelliom1980 06-23-2005 08:44 AM

Because when you get paroled from the first one after 15 years you go right back in for the second one.

TDF 06-23-2005 08:45 AM

who fuckin cares? he's too old to enjoy his prison cell now

smitty2049 06-23-2005 08:45 AM

I think they do 6 life sentences so that if you are paroled or whatever, that only clears the first one, then you start sentence number 2. The idea being they stay in prison (yeah right).

Isn't it cheaper just to push them off the roof after the conviction?

TDF 06-23-2005 08:45 AM

this sentence is 40 years too late :disgust

Paraskass 06-23-2005 08:52 AM

the best part was when the mayor from his town said he was a good guy and those civil workers got what they asked for.

fucking rednecks I tell you.

would have been worse for it never to have happened

EroticySteve 06-23-2005 08:54 AM

I think all life sentences should have the choice of the death penalty. Better than rotting in jail for the rest of your life.

its costs literally millions to put people to death.

life in jail is cheaper for the state.

look up the cost of death penalty ... youd think ropes were pretty cheap... but nope. it costs millions.

I know what your saying...but the point of prison is to restrict the rights and freedoms - this seems too little too late. He should have been excecuted 30 years ago as a terrorist. Hell, he should have been tried as a terrorist now!

Manga1 06-23-2005 08:56 AM

I bet if it wasn't for the movie Mississippi Burning he would've never seen the inside of a jail cell.

The only reason he wasn't sent to prison 40 years in the original trial is because one juror deadlocked the case. The juror later said that the reason is that "she could never convict a Minister" or "preacher", I forget which one.

etech 06-23-2005 09:46 AM

I dont see the point in giving him 3*20 years, the guy is 80 years old,
why dont just say, stay the fuck in prison until you die :)

pxxx 06-23-2005 09:51 AM

I was watching when his verdict was announced. I mean, does he expect anymore from life?

Well, firstly I knew about the case before that movie and I am pretty damn young in comparrison to the case so it was know BUT if it was the movie that highligthed it then good for the movie.

reynold 06-24-2005 03:07 AM

Because 3 people were murdered, not 1 and it is 3 different convictions his lawyers have to fight on appeal, which makes any sort of suucess much more difficult. Plus as the judge said, there was no legal basis for an 80 year old murder convict to get any different sentence than a 20 year old one would.

Mr. Killen was still the winner. He got to live a long and free life in Neshoba County Mississippi.

adonthenet 06-24-2005 03:37 AM

his too old
