Franz Ferdinand

Loving his music...anyone got others to suggest.

Long Live Limewire

Sarah_Jayne 06-23-2005 07:59 AM

Their new album should be done fairly soon. I am looking forward to hearing if they can keep it up at the same level because I really liked this last album. Um, have you heard the kaiser chiefs, Kasabian...and the band I wish was as big in North America as they are in the rest of the world - Muse?

Harley Girl 06-23-2005 08:04 AM

Franz Ferdinand is very good stuff - try these out, it's also good stuff.

Travis - "Why Does it always rain on me" ( is the most popular from his albums )

Flaming Lips - " Chewin the apple of your eye "

Jack Johnson - he just fuckin rules !!!

The Streets - all their songs are kick ass.

If you haven't for some reason listened to the new Beck album... i highly recommend it.

Franz Ferdinand are great even if "take me out" remains the best thing they ever do.

Travis have a couple of great songs fleashing out nice maudlin albums.

Flaming Lips one of the best bands currently available to tingle eardrums and i stab myself with toothpicks for missing them last big day out.

Jack Johnson - good but played so much i couldn't stand to listen to his songs anymore from hyperoverexposure... theres no need to buy his album.. the singles are on either the radio or music videos (at least 2 music video stations simultaneously) or soundtrack promo's to sports surfing news or in a shop as muzak etc etc every 5 minutes.

The Streets - great stuff especially the first album

beck = roxxors.

muse = total unmitigated pile of copycat shit scraped off radiohead's shoe like creed filling in for pearl jam after they moved on from the style that made them famous and left a musical hole for the lame to fill.

bhutocracy 06-23-2005 08:44 AM

oh yeah kaiser chiefs, bloc party etc etc all rock cocks in the whole new rock meets new wave mush of bands. Still think the best album i've heard all year is joanna newsome's milk eyed mender... even though at least 90% of the people here would hate her at least she's not interchangeable with half a dozen "next crop" artists... kinda same reason i don't mind the dresden dolls.

I think Fran from Travis goes to bed at night cursing Coldplay because for about a year before Cold Play came out with Yellow over here they were at the same level of popularity with the same audience. Then Coldplay can out. I like Travis better. My faveorite of theirs is Driftwood simply because it makes up a great summer festivel memory for me.

Sarah_Jayne 06-23-2005 08:48 AM

oh and the lead singer of Muse is a far better guitar player than anyone in Radiohead ever was. I agree they have a similar sound but the difference is that Radiohead aren't doing that sound anymore since they crawled up their own asses.

heheh.. yeah..well that and travis went limp.. "sing" vs "why does it" or "driftwood"? c'mon.. or more aptly - "sing" vs "clocks"
I didn't even bother with 12 memories although i've got "the man who" and "the invisible band".

Check out: the Arcade Fire, Queens of the Stone Age, latest Robert Plant record. All great stuff. :)

And Van Halen was a better guitar player than all of them combined. Van Halen was still shit music though.. just like muse... I don't care how many virtuoso trills you stuff into an unimaginative whine.. it's still an unimaginative whine that wouldn't even exist if Radiohead didn't happen. I'd rather listen to Kid A and Amnesiac than a Bends knock off even if the ass crawling factor is unmissable.
Just can't stand them or even begin to bring myself to buy and to endure a whole album.. just one of those things I can't help. I'm not the biggest radio head fan either.. just like im not a Pearl Jam fan but Creed still gives me the absolute shits.. theres just something about a band creating a sound and opening the door for a less original band to walk through whilst they move on that shits me... If i can't hear radiohead go back to guitar rock i don't want to hear anything like it at all.. i feel dirty... like eating at a fast food resturant... a hollow copy of a copy.. or like listening to matchbox 20.

*shrugs* im sure they're not all that bad... they obviously put a lot of effort in.. but "Stockholm Syndrome" et al just makes me want to reach for the bends. It's like a record company executive decided to tap into the "radiohead market" now their consumers were left without the same product and Muse were churned out to meet demand. Just like all the fucking bands at the moment being touted as the "new jet" as though Jet weren't a carbon copy of iggy pop and acdc riffs.
I'd rather spend my cash and listening time on something not a recent facsimile of something at any rate. Don't mean to dump too hard.. not that you'd care if i was.. just trying to 'splain

can't go wrong with QOTSA..the queens and at the drive in (RIP) are probably my favourite rock out with your cock out bands of the last couple of years. And im very curious about the good Plant reviews. Didn't think he still had it in him the same way i wouldn't expect Brian Wilson or Mick Jagger to churn out a killer CD next year... Though i never liked the stones.

VKLS Lutz 06-23-2005 09:39 AM

When their album came out I was listening to it all the time. They really made an awesome CD. "Take Me Out" and "This Fire" are my favorites.

My suggestions:
- I Am Kloot (Gods and Monsters - outstanding album!)
- Interpol (Antics)
- Queens Of The Stone Age
- And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead
- King Khan (Mr. Supernatural - different music style than the bands above but I'd like to recommend them anyway)

Greets
Lutz
