My hand has been tingling for two weeks now... wtf?

For the past two weeks I've had a weird tingling feeling in my right hand, sorta like when it's asleep because I leaned on it for too long, but without the feeling going away. What the hell is up with that? :eek7

Fletch XXX 06-23-2005 07:41 AM

carpal tunnel syndrome

DutchTeenCash 06-23-2005 07:43 AM

Ive had it for a day or 2 but 2 weeks damn...

StuartD 06-23-2005 07:45 AM

lack of blood circulation.

Furious_Male 06-23-2005 07:45 AM

I get if for several days at a time as well. I just went through a few days of that and it finaly stoped. Mine is from the way my hands are positioned at my main work station (carpal related I guess).

Go to the doc and get it checked. Its worth the piece of mind.

Sheri Santiago 06-23-2005 07:45 AM

see a doctor...

Tat2Jr 06-23-2005 07:49 AM

I hope I'm wrong for you, but it could also be Multiple Sclerosis. That's how mine started. The doctor tried to tell me it was carpal tunnel syndrome, and I knew it wasn't. Told him I wasn't happy with that answer. He said he'd email the nerologist to see if I should be worried. I had an appointment that week. Did a zillion blood tests, MRIs, and a spinal tap. Diagnosed that month.

Im sorry to hear but you gotta be realistic, MS is something completely different then this. A lot of us here type on a laptop crappy table no wristpads etc.

Libertine 06-23-2005 08:05 AM

Hmm... guess I'll go see my doctor then. Thanks for the advice everyone.

On the bright side, 3 more weeks and I'll be away from the computer for 6 weeks walking in the mountains, so that should help make it better :thumbsup

That happened to me in my feet and hands when I took an anti-epileptic medication for my migraines. VERY painful though - more like needles than tingling. Are you taking any medication?

swedguy 06-23-2005 08:08 AM

You've got CMS

Chronic Masturbation Syndrome

liquid chicken 06-23-2005 08:11 AM

have you ever had back surgery? herinated disc or anything?

my left arm does the same thing you described but it comes and goes.. i have digernative(sp?) disc disease.. from having back surgery a few years ago all the other discs are getting bad..

anyway.. i ask cause the disc at C4 is herniated, had an MRI done and it showed it was pushing into my spinal canal.. that explains the numbness and loss of strength.. going to see the neurosurgeon tues to find out if i will need surgery.. chances are i will.

DutchTeenCash 06-23-2005 08:13 AM

one tingly hand and half the diseases this world knows hop along.

I totally understand.... been doing this since '97. Had my share of the carpel tunnel (best thing ever for me was getting a track ball). But MS symptoms do mimic carpel tunnel. That's why I mentioned it. The only thing that tipped me off was when my leg went numb for a few weeks too. Realistically there ain't a chance in hell it's MS, but lots of MS patients do get misdiagnosed with many things (including carpal) before finally finding out what is really wrong with them.

SinSational 06-23-2005 08:28 AM

just some nerve damage. no big deal

vicki 06-23-2005 08:34 AM

tat2jr - I'm sorry to hear about your situation, thats a serious condition for you to bear *big hugs*

punkworld - the exact same thing happens to me a lot. After 2 years of hopping from doctor to doctor and having endless tests it turns out I had a pinched nerve in my shoulder blade. It recurs from time to time but at least now I know that some muscle relaxers combined with a good massage therapy session work for me. I've even used a chiropractor but not often as I kinda like the massages better LOL

Have your doctor look into this and hopefully you will turn out nice and relaxed too ;)

best of luck but definately see a doctor!!

infecto 06-23-2005 08:37 AM

NEVER use a wrist pad.....the majority of them just create more pressure on the wrist.

you should definitely go see a doctor already

Two Words, Track Ball! Get One. My carpal tunnel adventure started when I went full time on the computer. One night I dropped a full shot at the bar after work. Which is understandable, except it was the first one of the night. After some checking, it seemed my thumb would not bend anymore to grip.

It took about two months of therapy to finally go away.

Getting a good trackball helped more than anything.

Just my $0.02

A "Natural" keyboard helped me when I had the exact symptoms. Considering how much time we spend on our computers, you've got to invest in the good stuff. A good chair, good, large monitors, quality keyboard and mouse. It's like your bed, you spend half your life in/on it.

Hey LC... check this xray out... Now I have a disc going bad above C4 and they can't / won't go back in there because of all the hardware.. Can't even get a decent MRI, even though it's Titanium.

Pinched Nerve? Happen to be a couple times. One time it lasted for about 2 months. There is nothing you can really do for a pinched nerve. They can really suck! :(

Ycaza 06-23-2005 01:55 PM

hey do you ride a mnountain bike? leaning on those stupid handlebars gave that to me, changed the handle bars and back to normal

Steve 06-23-2005 01:58 PM

chop it off, chicks dig shiny hooks

ThumbLord 06-23-2005 03:03 PM

left or right hand ?
could be serious, november last year my "tinglng" resulted in having a hot ride in an ambulance ........ check with your doctor, it could be and I hope not be serious

s9ann0 06-23-2005 03:40 PM

had the same thing, like carpal tunnel except it was in my elbows. gotta get checked dude. you'll lose the feeling in yer hand permanently if ya don't get the operations. at least that was my deal. had both elbows operated on :( mostly I'm okay now . . . bmb

reynold 06-23-2005 08:54 PM

Right, it's just a matter of poor blood circulation..better change positions every once in a while...
